The walking belt of my treadmill is about to break. Can I replace it myself or do I have to hire someone to do this?

I wouldn't try to replace it yourself -- call a place like Sears and have them come replace it.

This is about the only thing we ever bought an extended warranty for (Sears) and it has more than paid for itself.

I would have someone else to it. First ask for a quote. Depending on the type and age of your treadmill it may not be worth fixing.

SC Minnie,

We have a Weslo Cadence 850. It's about 6 years old. It works great except that the belt is torn... the cut is about 2.5 inches long. The store that we bought it from had gone out of business a couple years ago.:(

I would ask for a quote to have it fixed. They can be expensive to repair as I found out. I had to have a small part replaced on ours after about 2 years and it would have been about $400. We had the warranty so it was covered.

Look up the manufacturer on line or something and they may be able to recommend someone in your area or even give you instructions on how to replace the belt.

Good luck!
