How do you remove bad mildew from a shower?

A friend of mine rents out the condo she had before she got married. Her tenants moved out this past weekend. She finally made it over there today. Most of the house is immaculate....but one of the showers is atrocious. It's the shower stall in the master bathroom. It's not ceramic tile, it's one of those "hard plastic" one-piece shower. (Does that make sense?) And it has sliding glass doors that go all the way to the bottom of the shower. There is mildew/mold all inside the shower and all inside the grooves/tracks where the doors slide. There are also a couple of rust spots on one of the "shelves" on the one wall. She spent her day scrubbing it and it's just not coming clean.

Anyone have any surefire ways of getting this clean??

I have two suggestions!

The first is to use a steam cleaner, like a "Shark." One that shoots steam.

My favorite is bleach. Bleach will clean ANYTHING!

I second the bleach suggestion. I would use the bleach gel so it can sit on the mildew directly and do it's job.

Bleach. It actually makes the mildew disappear as you stand there and watch it. Pretty cool.....

chlorine bleach is just about the absolute best mildew killer on the market.

I like Tilex for that kind of mess personally. It is a bit easier to use then bleach.

Get some clorox and pour it into one of those little spray bottles you can get at the dollar store or at Wal Mart near the miniature soaps and stuff. This makes getting the bleach where you want it a lot easier.

Nothing works better to get rid of mold than straight bleach. It will diappear right before your eyes.

For the hard water stains/rust, try Lime Away. It is in a DIS green bottle! Lime Away is pretty harsh, so make sure you wear gloves. Don't use the bleach and the Lime Away at the same time! That would produce toxic fumes. I never use two different strong cleaners the same day for this reason. And open a window after the bleach -- you'll need air in there.

I would also go with the bleach or bleach solution. She obviously needs to make sure she wears old clothes and that she's careful about what the stuff touches. After rinsing she can try Tilex, at least I think that's different than bleach. Just try things one at a time in case they produce toxic fumes when mixed. And like mentioned, open windows for ventilation.
