How do you relax?

You know, I've come to realize that that's just not who I am. I can't relax...It's not that I'm so high strung I'll snap, it's just that I relax in ways that aren't relaxing to others...
For instance I teach aerobics. I LOVE it. I am refreshed and relaxed when I finish. My ideal vacation is NOT lounging on a beach. I need to be phsyically active. When I finally realized others were forcing their idea of relaxation on me, I "relaxed"!!
Now my laid back Texas husband (I'm from PA) is the opposite (isn't that always the case).

Anyway, It's in the ATTITUDE. If you press forward ANXIOUSLY, trying to squeeze activities into the day...forget it! To me, if I have the attitude of enjoying each minute and not worrying about what we're missing, then I am relaxing the whole time!

OK, so my family can't do this. Children NEED to rest or crankiness ensues. (Same with my spousal unit). So while they relax, I do what I need to to "relax."

We tend to get up at different times. I like showing up for rope drop, getting the majors done in the morning, then relaxing through things later in the day.

The first part of the day goes great.... I get up early, usually with one or both of my boys, and we crank out the big rides before 11am.

The problem starts when hubby finally hooks up with us about noon and states that he's ready to ride Big Thunder which now has a 2 hour wait. By that time, we're ready to go to a resort and have lunch somewhere.

Oh well.

One thing that has helped a bunch is we now own our own ECV for hubby's bad knees. He uses it to get around the parks and resort and it's great for running ahead after fast passes.

Everyday I am there I have the same schedule....I DONT HAVE ONE !!!!.......I like to get up when I want....usually lay out by the pool for a few hours...Do alittle swimming...Have a few Tropical Cocktails....Chat with the people by the pool.....Have some lunch....Take a shower and then hit the parks for a few hours and ride all the rides I want to and see all the shows I wish.....When we go we usually go for like 17 or 18 days...So I dont really have to set a schedule unless dinner or meeting people is involved....Other than that....I just go where my mood takes me.....I am a big people watcher so I usually set up shop somewhere near a beer stand and just chill in the parks and observe people...Its alot of fun...Hope 2 C U there !!!!!!

We went on sunday June 1 to epcot. the crowds were nonexistant. We basically only did the land and the figment ride (journey to your imagination). We did ride the boat around the lagoon also, but the main point of the trip was for me to see a little bit of the flower and garden festival before it ended. That was it.... No test Track (we did not even go to that side of the park) we did not even go on spaceship earth, even though it only had a 5-10 min line. why bother we will be back soon, and we were fine for our day. some of the roses for the flower festival smelled wonderful. We took it easy and will be back when it starts to cool down again.

The 1st thing to relaxation is to PLAN, PLAN, AND PLAN SOME MORE. At least 8 - 10 days in orlando are a must. If you only can miss one work week, leave friday evening and don't check out until the following Sunday (Giving yourself plenty of Time, Time, AND more Time. You can't relax if you plan for 5 days 4 nights, one day is gone to getting there, checking in and organizing. 2 - 3 days are spent at the amusement parks, and or water parks. No days are spent to yourself. This year we are planning for 8 days. We purchased 3 day hopper passes (from our resort) and other days will be dedicated to relaxation, shopping, etc. One thing that I hate is coming back from vacation TIRED!!!! Does that make sense. But my family doesn't have to worry about that, my husband and I are both Teachers. We ALWAYS plan vacations on our days off. And we "DON'T DO" 4 day vacations PERIOD!!!!

For me, its the wife that wants to rush and see everything. Often I need to slow her down. I tell her there is soooooo much to see and enjoy, not just the rides but EVERYTHING. And in worse case, I tell her I need to go to the bathroom, and I take my sweet, sweet time going there. LOL

We take our time and relax while at WDW. My 6yo DD likes to get autographs and ride the same rides over and over. Her excitement is priceless to me. So we take the attitude that lets just have fun and enjoy her being little and believing in all the magic and characters. I just keep reminding myself that it just gives us more of an excuse to come back again!!!!!

Besides the great FTP deal, another reason we choose to return this year is because we are afraid DD is going to decide that there are people in those costumes playing Micky & Minnie soon and we want her to really enjoy all the magic one more time.

For us each trip is our time to relax. We went two years ago and met my sister & Family and my brother. Since it had been many years since my brother had been, he wanted to do as much as possible. My sister had been more recently but it had still been some time since her last visit. We like to go at a slower pace and not rush to every ride. We spent one day with them and then went our own ways and met at different times for lunch or dinner.

We always like to go and take our time, walk through the shops and just leisurely look around. If we get to a ride and there is a line, but has a fastpass, then we get a fastpass and come back.

Some days, we take a break after lunch and go back to the room for awhile and return to the parks around dinner time. We do have a little easier as our daughter is 16 and is the same as us. Since she is an only child, she has always done everything with us.

Of all the times that I have visited WDW I ALWAYS make time for relaxing. People don't realize how many things there are to do in WDW that are relaxing. One thing that I always do while vacationing is spend time at my Disney resort. The resorts have soooo much to offer and you should really take advantage of it. I like to get up early, eat breakfast at the resort and then head to the parks. I like to stay at the parks until it's getting crowded and HOT and then return to the resort. While I'm back at the resort I love to swim in the pool, have a drink at the pool bar, walk around, or have a snack. But most of my time is spent in the pool :D
Once you've done that it's nice to take a shower and dress for the night. I love getting cleaned up and heading back to the parks around late afternoon or about dinner time. It's also relaxing to go to Downtown Disney and walk around, shop, eat, drink and just enjoy the atmosphere. There are so many places to go, it's great. It's also fun and romantic to take the boat ride from downtown disney to Port Orleans resort. Taking this boat ride at night is VERY romantic :)
Thinking about all of these things really makes me want to go back. I hope sometime soon I can schedule yet another trip!!!!!

I grew up with a father who planned our days around noon and five. (at noon, and at five, it was "gotta eat" time...heheh...we went around his stomach!)

I love my FI to death, but he can be a "last minute planner" and the only time I enjoy this, is when we are at Disney. :)

The night before we deceide which park we'll hit the next day. We don't go for 8 hour stretches at one park, we'll hop around alot. (ahh...the beauty of the UPH!)

Even at night, we're not rushing to get to DTD...we may just relax at the resort...have a lazy dinner, maybe a drink by the pool, and then do what we do best - park our butts in front of the TV! :)

But above all - we always going during the "low crowd" time...so we're not waiting for hours in lines and can generally get on a LOT of rides in one day. This makes it all the more easier.

It's a vacation...it's supposed to be relaxing...after walking around all day, i don't mind just laying down and chilling.

man...now i really CAN'T wait until my trip there in September!
