I am the same way with card games I like I don't remember how to play canasta anymore, but when we had neighbors who played I remember really liking it. Now we mostly play Euchre (we sometiems joke with the kids that the reason we had two of them was so we would have the right number for euchre at any time)
I haven't played Skipbo or Euchre. Too bad we're all so far apart, we could form our own little card playing clique! Canasta is a game my grandmother used to play. It's kind of like the "family game". I'm always looking for new games to play though. Maybe I should look those up.

Speaking of relaxing and games - my DD8 and DD5 played some board games last night to wind down a little before bed and I suggested electronic monopoly - fun game right? Well everytime DD5 DIDNT land on Disney World...she had a meltdown not a fun relaxing time at all
Lots of different ways I like to relax, but my favorites are:
By myself --
Nothing better than a quiet house. Light some candles, put a good classic movie in the DVD player (usually Meet Me in St. Louis, State Fair, or Gone
With the Wind) and curl up in a cushy blanket
Take a drive to the local state park and walk the trails while taking pictures of everything I see
Take a long drive and turn down roads I don't know -- I know it's strange, but something about not knowing where I'll end up is always a good way to de-stress. I almost always find some farmer's market stand or a new antique store to browse
Get a massage/facial
With DH and DD --
We lay on a quilt and stargaze (that's IF the mosquitos don't try to carry us away)
Go to a local pond and spend the whole day fishing
Relax?? What is that? I seriously don't think I have truly relaxed in almost 6 years. But if I were going to I enjoy reading, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, movies, candles, baths, etc. Disney World is my happy place....but I wouldn't call it relaxing However I am working on that issue now.....I will get to a place where I can take time just to relax and figure out who I am again.
If I have a day at home alone and no chores to do, I love to catch up on some horror flicks that I don't get to watch with the family around. I'm still waiting for the opportunity of "back to back" Friday the 13th series.(I think that would have to be an overnighter) Alternately, I'll play WoW, TF2 or Rockband.
If it's me and the missus, then I love just hanging out together. Whether it's going out for lunch and a walk along Cronulla beach or shopping. Actually, we love shopping when we have the $$$.
The regular thing I do to relax most weekends is play drums in the show I'm a part of, which is the Rock and Soul Revue. (free plug)
I play on the computer (no games--coming to places like this)....
I go to the chiropractor...
I "chill" and watch tv
Once per week I go to Pilates
Once per month I have, Bunko (evidently true Bunko folks calls our night Bunko since we only play 1 round and the rest of the night is eating a yummy dinner and having wine. And we theme our bunkos--next bunko is BYOB-Beers Around the World. Last month's theme was "My Big Fat Greek Bunko")
I try to find a performance outlet--so just joined choir and will be auditioning for a musical in October (hey--no kids, so yes that is relaxing!)
When money allows, I go the spa (haven't been in ages), going to start going and watching chick flicks by myself (first did this with Julie and Julia)
I homeschool, so it is important for me to get out--and sometimes midday I will just take a few moments and veg on the computer.
My idea of relaxing is being pampered, being entertained, or just shutting down my mind and doing only mindless things.
Also....Tae Bo. I love punching and kicking. I use my own music though. Usually Eminem.
Twice a month, my friends and I have a night where we rent a limo (one of our friends owns the company, so we get it cheap) and bar crawl our way through Boston and crash at someone's house. Never too old for a slumber party.
Sometimes, like right now, I zone out with my headphones on, but I generally don't relax totally unless I'm out of the house and with other people who don't require that I change them or feed them.
I read - for hours and hours and hours.. It's been especially relaxing this summer because I have been reading so many Amish books and it's very easy to get "lost" in their simple way of life and feel like you're actually there in their homes, out in their gardens, etc..
