How do you put cash on your room?

Do you pay an amount everyday ($100) or do you put a lot up front? Is there a limit? If you do this do they give you a card to use for purchases? Please explain.

We were supposed to go last month but had to reschedule; we overpaid our room stay at CBR $47 due to changes in the price (discount codes). When we arrived, there would have been a $47 credit and what they do is tie your credit card to your room key (believe there is a $500 limit) and you use your room key for everything in Disney (food, souvenirs, downtown disney attractions).
You should call to see if you can apply cash to your room; most likely you can but you should call ahead of time.

During our last stay (ASMo), we overpaid in advance and then when we checked in, I gave them all our cash which they applied to our room charge. During the course of the week, we stopped in at the front desk and checked our balance once or twice to make sure we weren't spending more than we gave them. At the end of the week we hadn't spent all the money, so they gave us back the difference in cash upon checkout.

Upon check in last year at ASMo, I gave the CM helping me $600 to put down on my room account to charge against. At first she told me I couldn't do that. I said yup, I sure can and I've done it in the past. She had to go get someone to show her how to do it, but it was done. She was snippy from that point forward too. I guess she was mad because I knew something she didn't . You then just use your room key to charge against the money you put down and if you spend over that amount, they will bill your credit card on file. Very convenient.
