How do you preplan your photos so they are new and fresh?

Going to WDW and looking for photo ideas for scrapbooking. Do you have any ideas for fresh and original photos? I have much better travel camera now.

I've gone down with a theme before. Disney had so many small, interesting signs that I wanted to come back with pictures of as many as I could find. My friend got pictures of lamp posts one trip.

I always try to do new things on each trip. And I also like to photograph new things. If there is a ride or attraction that I really haven't photographed before, I will make a point of doing so. I only have 2-3 picture goals each trip, leaving stuff for next time! I always buy the photopass CD so we always try to take TONS of those as well... especially, since those are the only pics I am in!

Silly me: what is a photo pass CD?

Photo Pass is Disney's way of organizing all those pictures you can get the Cast Members to take. They have CM's all over all the parks that will take your picture in front of good backgrounds, or that they can add special effects to (like holding tinkerbell). They give you a card that you can show to all the photographers. Then all your pictures are linked together. You can buy a CD of them.

I'm terrible....my thougth on how to make it fresh is to take less pictures...Granted it has been awhile since we were there. But for almost 10 years we went once a year! Finally I really just wanted to capture the joy of the trip and not so much ever inch of the trip....so I spent less time with my eye behind the camera and more time playing.....and guess what? I have some of my all time best photos because I actually noticed more! LOL!

I've thought about doing a theme but seem to forget when I get there and just take bunches of pictures. I do like taking close-ups of architechural details and then i take a picture from further away so there are comparisions.

I have been browsing over in the photography thread to get ideas for things I missed on my last trip.

For example, I was not feeling well on our last trip so all the photos of AKL are from the lobby. I noticed on the photography thread some simply OUTSTANDING photos taken from higher floors! Why didn't I think of that?!

So, I am keeping a folder of "great shots" I want to get or different angles/places to shoot from. I may take another 10 photos at the lodge this trip, but they will be different from last time.

I also noticed a great picture of Main Street. I realized that it is taken from the train station platform. I am so busy rushing to ride Buzz Lightyear that we skip the train entirely. What a great place to stop for a few minutes and take some different photos. I'm sure that there are places you can think of that you never take photos from that would provide a new perspective for you!

DH and I took a little nighttime photography class a few years ago and it totally changed how we take pics now at Disney. A few easy tips - use different angles - don't just center the person in the middle of the picture. Lay down and take pictures upward (DH took one of DS up on the wall with the huge Kermit and it looked like Kermit's hands were on DS' head and they were miles apart!).

Another thing we've started to do is just take a picture when something strikes us - of the balloons on the street, the steins in Germany - just anything that looks interesting.

I also am a photopass addict so we try to do goofy poses there whenever we can.

I got some great night shots On main Street without a tripod using the timer and a handy trashcan. Which works unless some nut comes and throws trash in just as the shutter opens. . .
