How do you pick another line?

I finally broke down and checked other lines vs. Our spring break 4 nighter. I found a 7 night in a suite on Carnival Glory ( Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, Mahogany Bay) a 7 night on Celebrity Reflection in a suite (Cayman, Cozumel, Falmouth, Labadee) and a 6 night Freedom of the Seas junior suite ( Cayman, Cozumel, Puerta Costa Maya). All 3 are within $200 of my 5A on the Dream. Since i will be back on the Dream in July of 17 switching seems like a no brainer ( and those prices drop lower for regular verandahs) but which line? I know nothing about them. We will be 53, barely drink and dont gamble. A nice adult pool is important as is a rainforest type room. Help!

Personally, I'd go with Celebrity. Mostly because we've not been on Celebrity yet. But the Carnival cruise has 2 ports we've not been to yet, while Celebrity only has one. The 6 night cruise would be out (in my books).

I don't know anything about Carnival or Celebrity but I would make sure you are comparing apples to apples. The Dream is a nicer ship sometimes that what is compared to her when people price check. I know your Freedom of the seas will be a similar ship but if the nice parts of the Dream are what you like, be sure that the other cruise ships you compare to are just as new and nice.

1. Itinerary...do we want to go there?
2. What is included? Or offered at a special price?
3. How much are we going to have to spend once on board? Extra dining charges vs free/included dining rooms. Alcohol, entertainment, etc.
4. What is the departure/arrival port?
5. Will we have enough to do on board?
6. Will we enjoy the ambiance/atmosphere of the ship (Carnival-party, Holland-old people, RCCL and NCL-family, Princess-fancier, Celebrity-fanciest-er)

Once I ask those questions of each line...then I pick which one meets our personal needs the most.

I just started reading trip reports on cruise critic to figure out our next cruise line. Some of the Carnival ships actually have some very nice rainforest type areas and Royal has some really nice adults only areas on the top deck with enclosed pools. Not trying to confuse you any more but did you check out the new Carnival Vista. We have 2 cruises booked on her in the next year, she is going to be amazing. Her maiden voyage is in 2 weeks.

I would go on Princess. It is one the nicest cruise lines, with pretty ship's, great food, and great guest services! We LOVE Princess a long with Disney, though I really would also like to try Celebrity. I have heard great things about them!

We have cruised with RCCL and hated it. We then tried Princess and LOVE it. To me, Princess service is the closest thing to Disney service you will find at sea. The crew is great and polite, helpful and fun. The ship's are immaculate, and beautiful. The buffet is the best, bar none. Horizon's Buffet is amazing on the Royal and Regal Princess ships.

But we always do at least one Disney Cruise a year, though we do multiple weeks, back to back to backs on the Fantasy!..AND we now do both cruise lines each year, Disney in Spring, and Princess in the Fall. We really love both Disney and Pincess cruises. Itinerary is why we do both each year, different islands or areas of the world!

It all depends on what you want to do on the cruise and what is important, entertainment, casinos, family activity, or the itinerary. It also depends on age group. Holland is all senior citizens or so I have been told, Princess is a mixture, but very few children, Disney is family oriented with lots if kiddos. We have not done Carnival, but many cruisers I have spoken with on cruises tell me they are true party ships! I do not know much about Norwegian, or cruise lines from Europe. I have heard Celebrity is great! I have also heard wonderful things about some of the cruise lines with the large yacht type ships, but they ae very expensive!

It really depends on what you want on a ship and also very important, the itinerary! The itinerary is why we have chosen to do Princess cruises along with our annual Disney Cruise. They go to places Disney does not! It really is as simple as that and word of mouth from fellow cruisers who describe their experience on particular lines.

All of the itineraries sound new and different to us. I know it might not be apples to apples, but the 7 night Fantasy the same week is now $5500 for a 5E because it is SWDAS. We don't really need that, and for the Disney ambience I have that 5 night in 7/17. Family stuff won't matter at this point either because it is just the two of us. We just want a nice cruise with adult places to chill out that don't necessarily involve drinking.

I did check out Vista, she sure looks nice, but double the price of the cruises I am looking at now! I guess I will be spending some time on cruise critic. I looked at their Disney board for my Dream cruise last month but I always thought there weren't a lot of posts there--there sure a lot more for these other lines! I guess all the Disney folks post here!

Celebrity! This is DH's and my fav after DCL without kids. We just sailed on RCCL ship like Freedom, it is good also, and if you want rock climbing, ice skating, flow rider, then choose that one--but if you won't use any of those, then I would choose Celeb. RCCL will have more kids-teens @ SB, if that makes a difference. Celebrity seems a bit more upscale. Love the food. If Princess goes, I would put them as a toss up with Celeb.
