How do you pay for meals with Disney Rewards

I tried searching this but nothing specific is coming up about paying with rewards at restaurants..
So here is my question.

Those of you with the Disney Visa card..
When you cash out your points onto a Disney Rewards Card can you use that card to pay directly for meals at disney restaurants or do you need to do it ahead of time?

what I mean is, when the server comes to my table and hands me the bill, can I just hand her my rewards card?

So say if the meal is 50.00 they will just debit 50 points from my card?

is that how it works? I have looked online at the disney visa website but it doesn't specifically say if you can pay like this or not.

Thanks

It works like a gift card. If you have $100 on it, you can swipe it until your balance is zero. If you want to make a partial payment, just tell the waiter how much you want charged to it, and you can pay the difference any way you want. It's really easy.

if you go on disneyrewards.com it shows you which restaurants take the rewards card.

We used ours last year for tipping only since we were on the dining plan. Worked out fine for us.

I am on the site now, and can't find where it lists the restaurants.
What am I doing wrong?

I have close to 700.00 in reward dollars so I plan to use that as my dining money..

I just want to make sure that all the places I have made reservations at will take it.
thanks.

One way you could do it would be to charge everything back to your room and then before the end of your trip, go the front desk and apply your rewards card to your room charges. This way, you will have all of your charges on one statement and only have to carry your Key to the Kingdom Card.

We have done this twice and it works out really well.

We do this every time.:thumbsup2

Same with us - just charged everything to our KTTWK (room) and paid w/ our rewards at the end. Super easy! I also waited and picked up a Rewards Card at the kiosk at Downtown Disney, called the number, and had our reward transferred immediately. Didn't have order one earlier to get shipped to us at home. Worked perfectly!

This is what I plan to do also. I thought all the restaurants at WDW accept the Rewards Cards. Are there some that don't?

We've had trouble in the past while on the DDP, with a couple of restaurants charging our meal to the room instead of the DDP, so we no longer leave a credit card on file at the resort, if we are using the DDP.

I didn't realize you could wait until you get down to WDW to order your reward card? I knew you could run by or call and have more rewards added, but thought you had to order the card about a month before you left home.:confused3

We used ours for food too & just used it like a credit card, until the balance was 0.

Wow that's great to know that you can get a rewards card down at DTD. Thanks for that tip!

I second (or is it third?) this method. Really easy!

Okay, so I have an additional question. I have 2 Rewards cards with money on them (my husband and I have separate VISA accounts). Can I use more than one rewards card to pay off my Room Charge Account? I plan on charging everything on my KTTW card and using my $200 gift card from the 4/3 deal and our 2 Rewards cards to pay off as much as I can.

OP-Thanks for asking this, I have been searching this topic too!

Thanks for the help!

Yes you can.

Yes, we had 2 rewards cards that we used to pay off our room charge on our last trip.

Question: if you pay for dinner using the rewards card, is there any problems writing in the tip when the waitor/waitress brings the check back?

I would do this, especially is you are doing a current promotion that gives you 5x back when you use it for dining. We charged all our dinners at disney to get the points/dollars and used the rewards for souvenirs.
