At our church, many will attend Stations of the Cross in the afternoon.

I was wondering how many people are off tomorrow. Schools here are out and most offices are closed.

We won't be eating between meals, but we will eat shrimp jambalaya for dinner. DD16 is going to a crawfish boil at his friend's house.

Way of the Cross in the afternoon, then a crawfish boil Friday night. (We Louisianians are so predictable, aren't we!)

Yep, I bet the stores around here will be running low on crab boil by tomorrow night.

Eating seafood down here, not much of a sacrifice.

Stations of the Cross from noon to 3:00. Then we go to the cemetary, light candles and put fresh flowers on the graves.

Ha! I know exactly what you mean!

I'm not a big fan of meat, so giving it up on Fridays during Lent is a moot point with me. I wish it was like the old days when Catholics gave up meat *every* Friday.

But I loooove seafood. So technically, I guess I should eat meat on Friday and give up seafood. Maybe next year! ;)

We don't really do anything special on good friday but I will take the time to think about what good friday is all about and give thanks to God for the sacrifice He made for me.

I don't know why, but many people here traditionally plant their vegetable gardens on Good Friday. Does anyone know the background of this tradition?

No meat OR dairy for us Eastern Rite Catholics. And we will go to church tomorrow evening for a candlelight procession with an icon of the shroud of Christ.

We attended the Maundy Thursday service tonight, with footwashing and communion - just got home. Tomorrow night is a service of shadows, one of the most meaningful services all year in my opinion.

Our church will have a screening of Mel Gibson's "The Passion" at noon on Good Friday and again on Saturday.

I'd like to go to church. Other than that, nohing else but pizza for dinner.

Have a nice day everyone! :sunny:

Our church has a youth group. They will perform "The Passion of Christ" tomorrow evening. This is so incredibly powerful. Last year was the first year I attended this mass. I had chills when Jesus sees Mary. Even DH (who refuses to tear up in public) had tears streaming down his face. My teens are even trying to talk their friends into going this year. The same teens I have to force to go to Sunday Mass.

My Mom always serves prunes and homemade noodles on Good Friday, this has not caught on at our house, even tho DH loves homemade noodles, I am not good at making them.

Our school district has school today. Lots of staff members will be out today, with not enough subs available-should be interesting!

We don't do anything special. I was going to get some steak for the grill....

Church and a quiet day for us. It is still cold here. couldn't dig the ground if we wanted to.

Our church is showing it twice today. I still haven't seen it, but I am not sure if I am ready to go. I guess this would be the perfect time to do it. I guess we will wait and see.

This subject just came up at bkfst this morning with my DS. He is home from school sick again and we were looking at the calendar and discussing this weekend.

Nothing closes around here, except maybe catholic schools. It always amazes my SIL in PA that my kids get no days off for Easter. Her kids go to private Baptist school and always get Friday and Monday off.

I will probably find a few good Easter books to read to the kids tonight, as well as reading the Easter story out of the "Big Golden Bible". We have two Easter dinners this weekend... one on Saturday with my family and one on Sunday with DH's family. Not sure where we will go to church yet. We will be traveling, so it depends. But I LOVE the Easter music in church and wouldn't want to miss it! I've been humming "He Arose" all morning! Wish I had a CD of Easter music! Happy Easter to all!...................P

When I lived in Wisconsin I went to my Lutheran church for a Good Friday service. However after moving here to Puerto Rico the only Lutheran services are in spanish which I do not speak. Our subdivision does a "Via Crucis" or stations of the cross. We will be attending that this evening.

Maundy Thursday service with communion last night. Good Friday Tenebrae Service tonight. Quiet & reflective. I saw the Passion of the Christ last year, but it was so difficult to sit through. I'm not sure I can do it again this year. Emotionally draining.

Love to celebrate the resurrection on Sunday.
