How do you monitor hotel/flight price changes?

Right now I am checking Disney/Third Party sites multiple times a day in the off chance my post-Thanksgiving trip will have availability or better prices. I thought i've heard some people use websites/apps to help with monitoring.

How do you monitor? Also, for the seasoned vets, how far out are other people likely to cancel/openings become available? I'm still slightly more than 60 days out.

Airline flights around major holiday are always selling out earlier then other times of the year. Airlines have little need to offer discounts when the planes are full with holiday travelers. A few days AFTER the holiday is over can result in lower fares since fewer people travel. I think you should book air travel around a holiday as soon as you have finalized your travel plans. Checking frequently for price changes around holidays is mostly a waste of time. Airlines typically have fares in brackets where the lowest price seats sell out first. Then the fare jumps to the next available bracket. Many airfares are for non-refundable tickets so how that works is different from hotels where most let you cancel within a certain number of days without penalty.

Whether Thanksgiving/Christmas air travel will be impacted by covid is difficult to say at this time.

100% agree ... we are purposefully flying out on specific days past the holiday b/c flights were much cheaper than before the holiday.

I believe the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is historically one of the peak air travel days. People returning home is a bit more spread out mostly on Saturday-Sunday in order to return to school/work. I can recall flying somewhere on Christmas day one year and it was one of the slowest travel days since most people traveling were already at their destination.

BINGO! we're traveling ON thanksgiving. Rumor has it the airports will be low crowd level b/c everyone is already at their destination. It's our first time flying since pre-pandemic.
