How do you meet a date potential? (Inspired by Pin Wizard's single DISers thread)

PW, LOL about the military age comment!
:teeth: It's true! The guards at the gates look like they just got out of high school. They probably did!! Somehow, a guard should be older than me, you know?! ;)

I was going to say - they probably just did graduate from high school! Dating a younger man can be be fun, but that is a little too young. I would even feel like his mom!

LOL! I was going to say...they are a little young to flirt with. LOL!

Well, flirting doesn't hurt...;) Although it does feel wierd when a much younger guy looks at me. I know I look young for my age, but they would probably cringe if they knew my age.

I look young for my age also and I worry about that when an obviously younger guy trys to flirt with me. There is a guy at work that asked me out but I couldn't go out with him because he was 8 years younger than me. I would have felt like I was robbing the cradle. :p He knew how old I was though. I have to say that I was flattered. :p

Age really is a relative thing. My DBF is 29 and I am 33. He says the age gap doesn't bother him, but at times I do wonder...

One of my best friends is 34 and her boyfriend is 49! They are very happy and plan on getting married. :D

Was your concern with dbf because he's younger than you, TB? My DH was 5 years older than me. I didn't feel a gap at all.

Lol! I got hit once in the local mall by a 15 year old boy. I told him it was flattering but that I was almost 13 years older than him, and he didn't belive me! I finally resorted to showing the kid my driver's liscense and he got really embarrassed.

It was wierd.

Why don't you two host a VA Dismeet. Price of admission.........all guests must bring along a single friend (or two)!

I haven't been in your shoes, but what about Parents without partners? Our church has a group for divorced/widowed......just to socialize. How about mall walking in the morning when the weather gets colder? (although you might meet a lot of much older folks)

I don't mind when the guy is older than me but I don't like them being more than 5 years younger than me.

PW, I sometimes wonder if my age is a consideration for him even though he says it is not. Its really more about life stage than age itself. He can easily wait 5 years before starting to think about children - I don't have those five years to wait.

Hi, Mary! :wave2:

I'm working on a DIS meet now...funny you mention it! Trying to narrow it down to either Sept. 18 or 25 at Busch Gardens VA. So far, it looks like 9/25 is in the lead. :teeth:

PWP...I've always stayed away from that group like the plague! LOL! :) Actually, my sister went to a function of the chapter in her area and met a nice guy. They've been together over 6 months now I guess. My former church in FL had a GREAT single parents' group. We got together with the kids for fun things, weekends at the park, picnics, and meetings for the parents. It was a lot of fun. BUT didn't meet anyone "special" there. ;) I'm trying to find out if our new church has a group. From what I've seen so far...no. :( Actually walking in my development each evening. Some old, some middle, some kids. :) At least it's exercise. Thanks for the ideas! :)

going2...Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You're a youngster! LOL! Wait until you're a bit older. ;)

TigerBear... :scratchin I hope if he says it's not an issue, then you can trust it isn't. Don't worry! You have many good years left for those babies! My OB once told me that he had a patient that was having her first at 40. And someone else I know had one at 43. :)

haha! The same thing has happened to me before but I didn't have to pull out my license. I got hit on by a 13 year old, it was just weird considering I'm almost 20. I told him how old I was and he was embarrassed too. It's funny but so strange.

I used to get picked up by guys when I was a CM at WDW...all the time....unfortunatly for them I'm straight and prefer Disnye Princeses.

Unfortunatly for me, I haven't had much luck on the dating front either..as most of you know, I am patheitcally single..and I tend to agree wit hsome of you who think I might just be doomed to remain single.

Fun thread though....good stories...

:earseek: :earseek:

Well, you're not in your 80s or anything, are you Josh? :teeth: I picture you being in your 20s.

Well, during the few weeks of the summer that Alyssa is with her mom, I do actually have time. But in a week or so -- 8 days, not that I'm counting ;) -- she'll be back and any free time I have, I spend with her. My parents mentioned something about PWP and all, but I dunno... just doesn't seem like my kinda thing.

Bear in mind, that I think I've got it pretty good right now. I've got a great job, a nice place to live and a terrific daughter.

On a side note, IMO, a positive attitude makes all the difference. Do what it takes to make yourself happy and everything will fall into place in due time.

I can totally see why a 13 year-old would find a 19 year-old hot! :D
