Come on everyone, share your yummy sugar cookie recipes, I have a craving.

Cookies from CAKE mixes

You can just use a yellow cake mix for the sugar cookies & then decorate or dress them up them anyway you want with added flavorings. :flower:

Cut open the end of the tub and use a spoon to scoop it onto a cookie sheet...oh you want a recipe? :earboy2: Can't help you there. :flower:

For the past couple of Christmases I was on a quest to find the best sugar cookie recipe. Inevitably the ones I found were too dry, too brittle, to "wet" to roll out...the list goes on. Then I stumbled upon this recipe and it is wonderful. The cookies are delicious, and if you're looking for a sturdy cookie good for rolling out and cutting into shapes, there is none better.

1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
In a second bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
Sift flour mixture into butter mixture 1 cup at a time and blend well.
Roll dough into ball and chill 3-4 hours or overnight.
When ready to prepare cookies, preheat oven to 350.
Roll out dough and cut into shapes.
Brush with milk and sprinkle with colored sugar or candies if desired (or frost cookie once baked and cooled).
Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes.
Remove cookies to a rack to cool completely.

I don't make them anymore. It takes too much time and makes too much of a mess. I buy them at my local bakery. They are so yummy!

I open the package and break off the squares!!!!

I do "slice and bake".........does that count? ;) My DH LOVES homemade sugar cookies but I just can not stand the mess it makes. I might check out that "cake mix" cookie recipe. Think he'll notice the difference? :rolleyes1
