If our room isn't ready when we get there and we go to parks, how do we know when room is ready?

Disney will give you a call or a text to let you know

Is this new in the past we were always given a card with a phone number so we could call and find out if the room was ready and what room number we had. Rooms should always ready by 4pm.

i am not sure when it started but it has been at least the last 2+ years that they will call/text. I prefer just a text myself lol

The first time we got the call/text to our cell option was last October.

We request the text method also. Although one time it didn't work and we never received a text at all.

I still have the text on my phone from when our room was ready last month at BLT. Can't bring myself to delete it. :(

When we went were at the Poly this past December, we were supposed to receive a text stating our room was ready, We never received the text. So when we return to the resort and asked the CM at the desk (we were staying CL) if our room was ready, she said yes it was and are keys were activated. I then had to ask, well what is our room number since we were never texted nor told what it was.

For others, the text works great.

I must have been one of the unlucky ones! I got the text message that my room was ready at POFQ after we had already spent 2 nights in the room. I called the number on the card I was given 3 times to be told it wasn't ready, but when I walked to the desk to ask in person I was told it was ready and it had been ready for a while!

Maybe next time I will have better luck. On the other hand, my room at the Poly (split stay) was ready at 11am when I checked in :cool1:

Hmm, I was wondering about finding out when your room is ready. We are from Canada and will not have the use of our cell phones due to huge roaming charges. I will be turning it off when we get on the plane and leaving it off till we get back home.

Someone mentioned getting a card with a number to call on it. Is this what they will do for us? Our flight gets in at noon, so there is a good chance we will either head to a park or DTD if our room isn't ready, which I'm presuming it won't be at that time of day.

It would be nice to know whether or not our room is ready to go back to if we are tired. We will have been up since about 4:00 a.m. and I don't imagine myself, my partner or the kids will have had much sleep the night before, too much excitement for our first Disney trip! :yay::banana::cheer2:

With the new computer system, they have been releasing rooms that are available as much as possible. I would do online check-in and you have a better chance of your room already being ready.
