Since yesterday my eyes have really been buging me. When I went to bed last night my eyes were watering really bad and when I woke up this a.m. they were stuck shut( from all the watering of my eyes). My eyes feel really sore and burn when I close my eyes. They are pretty red on the sides of my eyes.

I am thinking I might just have a cold in my eyes, but I don't know.

If this keeps up tomorrow I will go in to the doctor.

Sounds like pink eye. The biggest sign for us is when you wake up in the morning and your eyes are glued shut with gummy stuff. Pink eye is highly contagious. Please see the doctor before you pass it on.

I third the motion. Usually the pink is through the eye as it progresses. You eye will look like you've been on a four day bender!!!!!!

Just some drops and you'll be great again. :flower:

Yep. Sounds like pink eye. It is very contagious, so go to a doctor as soon as you can. were your eyes glued shut with gummy stuff? if so, then its probably pink eye. one of my friends had it once.

It was not gummy at all, it was just like the matter that you get in the corner of your eyes and it was hard.

If I do have red eye, how long does it take for it to clear up and everything( once you have the med. & everything)?

Try regular eye drops. If you get no relief at all, then it's pink eye. Also, if you have pink eye, throw out all eye make-up or you'll get it again.

I've got a cold in my eye right now. It feels like I've got sand in my eye, but there's nothing there. My eyes were crusty this morn but not gummy. I took antihistimine drops - DO NOT DO THIS!!!! It stung like crazy!

Walked into the Dr's this am and she diagnosed it and gave me antibiotic drops. (She also told me not to use the antihistime drops - told her I figured that one out already!)

Feel better! :)

Well your eye will start feeling better in a day or two. I think you are supposed to be on the drops for a week. My sons pediatrician gives me 3 refills when he gets it "in case it goes thru the family". I have been so glad to have the bottles/refills around this year. I think I've gotten it 3-4 times in the last year. I have no idea how I'm getting it when they don't but I do! The last time was the worst. My eye was glued shut and burning like crazy in the middle of the night!

I know it is pink eye when I wake up and my eye is glued shut.

If you don't normally get that kind of symptoms from allergies (and it that case antihistimine drops will take care of it), then it is most likely pink eye.

Well I called my work( I work at a day care center) tonight and she just called me back now. I told her I think I might have pink eye and that I should go into the doctor in the a.m. to find out and get med. if I do. But she said it is really hard for me to find someone to fill your spot in the baby room at 8:00 a.m. and said for me to come in still and if my eyes still do not feel better then they would let me take a longer lunch break to go to the doctor. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Would it not be a whole lot better to go to the doctor first!!!!! :confused3 ~ to make sure it is not red eye

What a coincidence. My eye started gooking up this morning. By the time I got home, my babysitter (aka grandma) said it was pink eye. I just used the drop left over from my kids' last go with it. My mom told me I have to wash all the towels and sheets now. :confused3 Is that true? I feel too crappy from the rest of the cold to do that.

Well, I sure hope your boss doesn't have a problem when the kids all get it and come in anyway. If I was a parent, and I found out my child got pinkeye because a teacher who possibly had it was told to come in anyways, I would not be a happy customer. You are right in thinking that you should go to the doctor first thing.

My husband just got over having pink eye. He had a prescription and they also told him to use Visine for allergies. Also, we had to wash his pillow case every day because you could reinfect yourself. They also have some over the counter pink eye drops you may want to try. Good Luck!!

Be sure to go and see an opthamologist or an optometrist so they can determine what kind of eye irritation/infection it is and treat it accordingly. My DD had an eye infection a couple months ago, so we all went in for preventative treatment because we were coming down with symptoms. Went through a couple courses of antibiotic eye drops with eyes tearing and a lot of discomfort from the drops. The mistake we made is initially going in and being treated by our family doctor instead of an eye doctor. Fortunately after two weeks of misery, I by chance happened to talk to a guy at work who's wife is an eye doctor. I described my symptoms, and finally ended up at the eye doctor. What a relief. I found out a lot of my discomfort was caused by the PH in the eye drops that had been prescribed for me. Many people have reactions to drops - unless the ph is right. You want to make sure you are on the right kind of eye drop, because a reaction to the PH in the antibiotics can be just as uncomfortable as the infection! Good luck with it!

Well guess what I have now? :sad2: :sad2:

Yep, I have Pink eye.

When I got to work this a.m. they say how red my eyes looked and then they said I could leave to go to the doctor this a.m., so I got there at 9:10 a.m. and was there for over an hour~ to find out that I do in fact have Pink eye! Now if only they would have listened to me last night when I called!! I feel really bad, cause now some of those kids might just get this. My docotor wrote me a note, just in case work gives me any trouble about it. I also got eye drops, that I have to put in for 7 days & 4 times a day.
