How do you know if you get your exchange

I called to request a search for an exchange to Maui. How do I know if I get it. Will they call me or email me? and does it show up anywhere on the DVC website? I am so excited to do this but I hope we get it.

I also put in for an exchange back in August/September, 07 for 7/09. If I remember correctly MS said we would be notified by mail about a week or so after the match but that it would show up on the website first and to check it every so often. I keep checking mine and nothing yet - I go to the 2009 year and my points are all still there. I am going to give it til the end of this summer (08) and then cancel - since I like to plan ahead for the following year (and not two months before).

When are you looking to go? and when did you put in your request? Just curious.

You might not want to cancel your search quite so early. The CMs have told me most matches occur around 6 months prior to the travel dates. I've had a search in for Kauai since May 07 for Fall 08. Nothing yet.

My DF was also told most matches occur in the six month period before you want to travel. Friends of mine who have other time shares told me they are encouraged to wait until at least 6 months before their "week" to offer it up for exchange. (Not sure why though?!)

I just started my search last week for October 09. I think I will just wait it out but if nothing happens by 6 months I will probably book another hotel that I can have just in case but make sure I can cancel it if my exchange comes through. I was also told that a lot of people get their exchange between 3-6 motnhs before the trip. I really have my heart set on the Westin so I didn't choose any other resorts...hopefully this wont be a mistake.

Just to let you know, Starwood (Westin) owners can't reserve at Maui until the 12 month mark. So you will not hear anything for awhile, maybe October/November at the earliest.
