We have just booked a trip for February 2010.
DH and I have decided to keep it a surprise until Christmas then make up a box for Christmas with some disney stuff in and a chain with the number of days left.

We are already getting sooooooooo excited!!:banana: we keep discussing it in whispers and code even we don't get:rotfl::rotfl:

How do we keep it a secret????

Anyone else done this anyone any ideas??!!

lol we did the same thing.. once our son goes to sleep we break out all our disney planning stuff.. we dont talk about it when hes wake.

our plan is to tell our son to get in the car on saturday morning.
if he questions im gonna tell him we are going to my grandmas in kentucky.

we should be able to pull it off til we hit the florida state line.. LOL

We've kept it a secret by packing on days they aren't home. Making ADRs online and sending emails to each other about planning. We talk about Disney so much they really didn't notice. Then if we were purchasing something that would clearly be for Disney - like the water/fan bottles I told them I was buying them for a friend's trip who couldn't make it to Wal Mart. I've hidden all of the suitcases after I packed about a week ago. Made custom shirts and shorts for the kids while they were asleep or at camp. Everytime I would feel like exploding to tell them I would say "wouldn't it be great to be able to go to Disney" and that would be enough for me not to think about telling them.

Our flight is at 7am so we have to get up around 4am, so we're going to put the suitcases into the car the night before, get them up and dressed half asleep, drive to the airport and I know when DD10 sees the flight is going to Orlando she'll know. surprise!

Thanks. You two are way better at this than I am!!!:worship::worship: There is no way I could leave it till the day we go!!!

We will still have 50 days to go when I tell the girls. The hardest thing is going to get permission from school without them knowing!!!

We are going to fill a box up with disney goodies(from mickey) and the night before we leave I am going to have the kids open it and tell them where we are going.

This will be our daughter's first trip and although she knows that she is going to go to Disneyworld "when she gets bigger" she doesn't know exactly when. We haven't given her an exact time frame for a couple of reasons:
1. We thought waiting would make it more fun.
2. She is in my BIL's wedding the day before we leave so I didn't want the excitment of the Disney trip to overshadow that event.
3. I was afraid she would drive me nuts asking every day. :rotfl:

So we have decided to serve Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast on the day we are driving down (we will already be in FL for the wedding so it will only be a couple of hour drive at that point) and then tell her that she is big enough now and we are going to Disneyworld! :yay:

Our boys know that "one day" they will get to go to WDW, but they don't know it's coming so soon :rotfl: We aren't telling them until we drive through the gates - they think we're going to a wedding in FL at the end of Nov. :lmao:

There are days when I REALLY want to tell them, but I keep it a secret by (1) remembering that I want to see the look of utter amazement and joy when they realize where we are, and (2) I visit the DIS A LOT! This helps my excitement not to leak out of me ;)

We havent kept it a secret, but they dont know that we are going in a little over 2months. We have to be at the airport at 4am, so we are going to wake them up w/ shirts and packages for Disney, and be like "WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY TODAY."

You can write in the note to the school that the kids are not aware of the trip. We did that last year and everything was handled "behind the scenes" so to speak. We didn't tell our kids anything our last trip until we picked them up from school with the bags all packed. They figured it out during the drive to Florida.

We do what the other posters do. Honestly, we talk about Disney all the time; past trips, future trips, favorite things, favorite characters, etc. It was pretty easy to keep the actual trip a secret from them.

We are going at the end of Sept. and have a very early flight from MN. We are staying at a hotel the night before by the airport. I'm going to check into the hotel when the kids are in school and make a towel Mickey and put it on the bed. I am just as excited about telling them as in going.
I had also thought we could go out to Dairy Queen for dinner and get an ice cream cake with Mickey on it that says "See you tomorrow". But because Delta has changed our flight times for the 5th time and have such an early flight we are staying close to the airport. So if you want to steal the idea go ahead.

LOL it wasnt that hard to do.
we made the decision not to tell him cuz he would have driven me up the freakin wall.. LOL
hes almost 7 and hyper active to boot!

hes been gone all week at his fathers. that helped out alot.
:wizard:

Thank you to all.
You have given me some wonderful ideas. I just may try and keep it a secret til we go.
Thank you all again:worship:

LOL Same exact thing we did for our girls first trip - Christmas morning surprise with a Feb trip, disney box and countdown chain! You can see my boxes/surprise in my trip report in my signature.

It was hard to wait but so fun watching them trying to guess. I had to show them a DVD before they really got it. My favorite line was "YOU'RE going to DIsney??" LOL

Loved your boxes. I had forgotten about disney dollars will see if I can get them over here!!!!

Like the TR too we are also staying at CSR. We stayed there earlier this year, were taken by my parents but this will be our 1st solo trip to the world with the girls. We keep telling them we will go again one day but it will be a long time off. I know you shouldn't fib but the surprise has got to be worth it!!!! Your girls are gorgeous.:cutie:

Thanks for the comments on the girls :)

We are lying to our girls right now as well if you makes you feel better LOL. We weren't sure we would be able to go this fall so we told them we hope to be able to save enough money to go next spring. I keep asking them what they want to do and see so they are helping plan it. They just don't know they are going in about 35 days!!

At this point, DH just wants to wait until we are on the road. Maybe we will tell them we are going to visit my dad at the beach and then see how long it takes them to realize we aren't going the right way - my guess it would take 2-3 hours.

The other big surprise ..... they think we are going to stay at a hotel again like CSR (nothing wrong with that, if we were doing just Disney, I would stay there again in a heartbeat! I actually had CSR booked until we changed to water parks and Universal) but we are going to water park and Universal so we are staying off site in a 3 bedroom condo with a private splash pool. We will save that surprise for when we pull into the driveway! I can't wait to see their face when they realize they have a pool right off the living room.
