How do you handle resort moving day?

Just curious what everyone does on the day you change resorts? :goodvibes

Our plan is to have bell services move our stuff and head to one of the water parks. I want to make it as stress free as possible.

We are taking a different approach. My SIL did a split stay last month and one "issue" was they would not transfer their computer. Since we will be in the same position and I don't want to pack it in the luggage, I am going to take a cab with all the luggage from CR to BC and check in about 8am. Then I can leave everything right with BC Bell Service and then meet the family at the part. I will have our new keys (with our dining credits for that stay on them) and I won't have to worry. If my mom wasn't coming with us and it was just DH with the kids we would probably all go to BC to check in.

We don't typically do a waterpark on move day ... We usually do the park closest to new resort. We usually head over to the new resort around 1:30 to avoid the check in crowds. If the room isn't ready we'll explore the new resort until they text us our room number.

This is what we are planning, we will move from the Poly to BC, so we are planning on doing DHS that morning and then checking in in the afternoon.

We do a water park or Disney quest on moving day. It's also a sleep in laundry morning. We always rent a car so we usually check into new resort before heading out to water park. I figure the earlier I check the better my chances of getting my room request.

We haven't done this in years because we decided it is just easier to stay in one place. And since we own DVC, we can try other resorts in future years if we like.

But when we did it, we'd load everything up in the car, drive to the new resort, check in and leave everything in the car while we played in the parks. When we got our notification that the room was ready, we headed back and unloaded the car. I was usually the one who got up earlier than the rest of the group and went to check in at the next resort. If our room was ready, I called the others and got them going so we could just make the move.

I would pack my iPad and DH's computer. Why won't they transport them? We spilt before, put them in our luggage, and it was fine. They didn't ask but that was in 2009 so a lot might have changed. Hmmm.....I was thinking of doing the cab thing too....maybe that's the way to go? :surfweb:

We'll be moving to AKV so there aren't any walk able parks though that's a great idea. :thumbsup2

We won't have a car but am thinking I like the water park idea. We can easily stay until 3:30 and then head back because our villa should be ready by 4:00. What I'm thinking though is sending bell services with our bags and then cabbing over to the new resort to check in. I know our villa won't be ready but I can check in anytime.

We own too Deb and that's why I'm wanting to change resorts. So many great ones to choose from. I know we've got 40+ years but I'm far too impatient. We won't have a car either. Hmmm....lots to consider.....I'm always up earlier too. Could I do online check in from our personal computer?

DH is weird and has it all separate and has fears of it getting thrown around too much in the transfer. He is weird. I am not sure about my SIL and why they didn't do that.:confused3

:rotfl2: We've all got our issues. ;) I guess I'd place it I between clothes and it's protective case.

Interested in this. We are doing Art of Animation for 4 nights and moving to Kidani for 4 nights.

If your going to take a cab to the new resort why don't you just take your bags with you. Then you know they have gotten there safe and sound.

They'll be one of me and enough bags for 6 people. I'm scared! But that's a good idea. Maybe I'll just take the valuable stuff like iPad and computer.
