How Do You Handle It When You're a Few Points Short?

Getting started with planning for next Christmas, and I find that I'm going to be 2 points short of what I'll need. We can't borrow, and as much as I'd like to buy more points, that's not in the cards. What options exist? Are there people on the rent / trade board who are willing to rent that few points? (I'm not begging here, really. :D I'm just asking if anyone has ever found a way to solve such a problem before.)

If you can find someone to transfer to your account - that would work. but kept in mind that transfer can only happen once a year to get account.

you might have better luck -if you are willing to rent a entire night. then ms can link your rented reservations with your other reservation on your points.

Unfortunately, our solution has typically been: BUY MORE POINTS, LOL! We have added on three times since we first bought in 2000. Our New Years' resolution is no add on in 05, LOL.

I'm going to be using 3 years of points and if my calculations are correct I will have an extra 4 points. I would be willing to sell you via a transfer the 2 points if it can be done.

It is my understanding that you can do multiple transfers, but only one DIRECTION per year, per account. Is this wrong?

Honestly, if I had small amount of points which I couldn't use to book a studio for one night, or carry over to next year, I would give/deposit into someones account for no charge. Would rather help a fellow DVC member instead of losing points! Unfortunately, I don't have any this year!

Beca - I don't know.

I had heard only transfer period.

I look at my old reference things and get back toyou.

Beca, you have got it! That is correct. This last use-year (04) I received 2 different points transfers into my account, and MS reminded me of this policy each time (ie since I had received points, I could not transfer out until next use-year). You can get or make multiple transfers in any one year, but only in one direction.

Good luck to OP getting those last couple of points.

I am short on points and don't want to commit to more points by adding on. What I do is add a cash night for Saturday on my May OKW trip. It's about $300 and saves 48 points, so about $6.25 per point, which I think is pretty much even when you consider dues + initial cost spread out.
