Coming from a large Italian family, it is customary for us to greet one another with a kiss and a hug. I always greet old friends and family with a kiss and a hug.
Some DIS'ers, who I know well and who I know won't mind a hug - like Dan, for instance; I wouldn't hesitate - for those who seem a bit shyer, I offer my hand.
Depends on the person. Sometimes I do nothing but say hello or maybe give a hand shake if I don't know them well. If I know them fairly well, I will give a hug or a kiss on the cheek if I know them very well. I am a big hugger though and do that more often than not
I must admit I am one of those people who doesn't like to be touched by people I don't know...but I feel like I know so many of you that I am sure I would react differently......especially if you are well you know...a hottie!!!
In business situations I always shake hands, FIRMLY! There is nothing more that I hate than to be on the receiving end of a wet noodle handshake. Especially if it's from a man - yick!!! I have taught my kids to give a firm handshake and make eye contact with the individual, I believe that conveys a message about yourself to the person you're meeting.
