We flew the 1st time and drove the 2nd. We will be driving again this Oct.- 15 hrs the 1st day, 8 1/2 hrs the 2nd day. DH loves to sightsee along the way and would rather save some money on airfare. It is worth the extra couple driving days to us to be able to bring a cooler with breakfasts and snacks, have plenty of room to haul home souvenirs and have the option of visiting offsite places without paying for a rental.

Plane.....how long would it take to drive from WA? (the state)

Not long. Only about 45 hours.

I just drove from Oregon to North Carolina and it took about 40 hours. It wasn't bad though. I listened to the most of the first 3 Harry Potter books and the DaVinci code.

We've been to WDW twice.
First trip we drove 5 hours to Portland, OR, then flew a total of 5-6 hours with one stop/plane change in the middle.
Second trip, we drove 6 hours to San Francisco, then flew a total of 5 hours with one stop/plane change in the middle, then drove 2 hours from Tampa to Orlando.

It was very tiring having to make long drives to different airports, but with 6 plane tickets to buy and no decent fares anywhere near us, it was the only way to fit it in our budget.

Now we're living in Charlotte, NC, so our next trip, we'll be driving and saving thousands of dollars on airfare and a rental van.

Fly in from NY and take the Disney transportation. I have driven back and forth to Fl From NY 14 times and flying is a no brainer.

You're missing a check box.....some people actually take AMTRAK, so you need to add train to your listing. I however fly and either rent a car or take MagicExpress! Nephew and son are taking the train in October while the rest of us fly....he has a fear of flying, and has instilled that fear on their 8 year old son.

We drive, leave Charleston about 9 and get there by 3. Not bad at all. But we're moving to Mobile, that drive kind of stinks. I-10 is the devil.

We're flying...we hate driving (even to DL which is only 6-7 hours drive from home). So we fly, then ME to the resort...then bus each day multiple times back and forth to the parks. I voted for all 3 options on your poll since I couldn't pick just one

We drove for 5 trips (12 hours-usually broken up into 10 hours to Ocala then 2 the next morning). When DS started school, we started flying (1 1/2 hours). However, if I cannot find a flight cheaper than $300 per person, we'll be back on the road this year . I don't think our gas would be $900; or at least I hope it won't be!!!

Well, last trip we took a bus to the light rail station, then light rail to the airport, then a plane to Orlando, then Magical Express, and on the return trip we took a cab from the airport home. On the other hand, sometimes we drive to the airport and use long term parking, so we've used every type of transportation shown and some that aren't!

We drive from PA. We leave our house on Friday morning between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM. We have sandwiches and drinks packed in a cooler and never stop for food. Bathroom breaks are taken only when necessary and at a gas station so we can fill the tank. Our first trip back in 1986 took 21 hours (DH, myself, and 5 kids.) Our last trip (only DH and myself) took 14 1/2 hours.

We always have reservations for Saturday night but arrive on Friday (late) so we have to find a room on Disney property for that night. This is a ritual we have done for the past 20 years - I can't wait for my husband to agree to fly (I did talk him into it in 1994 but we were to leave on a day that a hurricane was hitting Florida and our flight was cancelled. So, we hopped in the car and drove down-I'm afraid I'll never get that chance again.)
