Ive seen pictures of it and it looks like fun!

We were there in March/ April of this year. and I asked the conductor as we were getting on... He said He had no idea of what I was talking about....

When I tried to add to the conversation he just brushed me aside and asked if I was getting on the train? When I said yes of course, his response was .. well you better hurry we want to leave... I was the first person in line and no one was behind me aside from my family..

I guess it depends on who you ask..

Although I think its not always connected to the train.

Good luck , I hope you have better luck than we did..

It is fun! It is a great experience for people who love Disneyland history. We just went to the train station on Main Street and told the conductor we wanted to ride the LB. It is best to do this in the morning. We got there about 9:00 a.m. (park opened that day 8:00), and they gave us tickets and told us to come back in 45 minutes. The tickets are printed on cardstock and say LB on them--a nice souvineer.

When you get back,, they take you and a few other people (there was about 6 of us total) to board the LB. The conductor tells stories while you ride, and you get to see some original items from the early days of the LB. The stories are mostly about Walt and his wife, and the people who rode the LB in the early days.

Since the train is an antique, they are careful not to bring it out if it is raining or very hot--in order to preserve it. We are lucky that it was out the day we went--we got on it the first day we ever asked for a ride.

Hope you have a good time!

Ask one of the conductors in the mainstreet train station...
some days it is not on track, so that is the first consideration.
The times for a ride in the Lilly Belle fill up quickly so best to go to the train station early in the day and ask.
Also you can ask to ride on the tender of the CKHolliday and EPRipley...

What station were you in?

We have ridden the LB 3 times, we have never been given cards.

You must ask at MS station, no other station can help with this request. They keep a list at the MS station and if you ask early enough you may be granted a ride on the LB if it is out and they have sufficient staff to ride with you. You cannot ride alone, you must be accompanied by a CM. It's really fun to do this, people will think you are a VIP! lol :) it is really fun/neat to ride the LB, I highly recommend trying from day 1 of your visit as you may not get to ride the day you had in mind.

We were in the parks April 28th thru May 2nd...we went to City Hall and asked if the Lily Bell was running that day...we were told it was no longer in the park????????????:confused3

This may be true, the lilly belle was taken to fullerton for display at the fullerton railroad days. I'm sure she's back home by now.

.

It isn't really a card--it is a old fashioned looking ticket that says "Lily Belle Railroad" on it. I can try to take a picture of it if you want. It is a nice keep sake. When we got on, they asked if we all had tickets, and the people next to us said they didn't get one and the conductor ran to get them for the couple. It isn't a ticket to ride--but more of a souvenior.

When I rode in the Lilly Belle back in November last year, the conductor gave everyone tickets for the Lilly Belle when we waited until the train with the Lilly Belle arrived at the MS station.

It is a very nice souvenir to say that we did ride in the Lilly Belle.

Here is the ticket that we were give by the CM conductor.

They didn't write our names on our Lilly Belle Cards, but punched them with a little train icon. Anyone else get that too?

I wasn't doubting you, I think you've talked about it before, I was just pointing out that not everyone gets them. :)

I found some info on this and pictures of the train here:

If you’d like to ride the Lilly Belle on your next trip, here’s what you need to know…

Arrive at the park before it opens and proceed directly to the 2nd floor of the Disneyland Railroad Station.
Wait outside, in line, until you hear the official park opening announcement.
When the Railroad Cast Members arrive, ask who is taking the reservations for the Lilly Belle Car (if it is available).
Arrive early for your scheduled departure time.
You should also remember the following…
The Lilly Belle does not operate everyday, nor is it available all day long. Only a few trips are available each day.
Guests must reserve their ride with a Disneyland Cast Member and must also be escorted in the car with a Cast Member (Club 33 members can ride at anytime, unescorted).
Rides are round-trip from the Main Street Train Station.
The escorting Cast Member will share the history of the car while you travel.

Looks really cool!

Ok I found this again yeah- Ok has any one been this week that knows if its back home yet? My hubby an I did try one year but we were told only club 33 could, but I don't think we were at main street place, and maybe we will be able to try this again and it work this year. I think my dad and mom could like it (not to mention my dh lol he is history nut and this would be cool) He also cant wait for Lincoln lol)

Ps is it open in MM or not till after MM

How do you get to ride in the tenders?

Again, ask one of the conductors at the main street station....only.
Rides on the tender start and finish only at Main Street Station.
CK Holiday or EP Ripley must be on line since they are the only two engines that have rider capacity on the tenders...the two original engines.
They must not be stopping for water or steam release at New Orleans Station.

Sorry, I meant to quote your other post....LOL There is NO charge to ride the LB.

I just answered on your other post but I'll do it again, you have to ask for this after MM has ended. And again, try the first day of your trip, don't wait until the last day or you won't get to ride and you'll be disappointed. If you ask every morning until you get on then you won't be disappointed. :)

Great thread and info.! A nice DISer suggested I try and take my Mom on the Lily Belle since it will be her first visit to DL ever (she is 80-ish :lmao:) and has never been to any Disney Park and will be proudly sporting her "First Timer" button ;) Hopefully it will be out and we'll be sprinkled with pixie dust so we can score a ride on this beautiful train car...

Be sure to check early and ask every day of your trip until your magic happens. The LB is not out daily. :)
