How do you get the postcards?

I just got through posting on the Budget Board regarding this. I'm assuming you get on a mailing list by registering at Disney.com, making reservations with Disney on-site resorts, have a Disney Visa, ordering on-line at Disney Store.com; etc. It's just luck of the draw from there on. :earsgirl:

Hi,
I just got a postcard for the discount rate. I'm not an AP holder, but I have registered with disney.com and shopped at disneystore.com. This would be the way they got my name, I'm guessing. Or possibly when I ordered the planning video.

For what it's worth, this is how I think I've received postcards - and I receive several each year - the most recent postcard was good for travel through the end of August. I have an AP and stay on WDW property every trip - but that's not how I get postcards. After a disney cruise, I registered for the castaway club (free registration), and I've also sent away for the free planning DVD. The postcards I've received are definitely from the cruise/planning video. In the past, I've given several names/addresses, so I can tell where the postcards are coming from. Also, the name/address I use when booking WDW trips has never received a single postcard - I guess they don't need to bribe/reward the converted.

I need one of those postcards!!!! UGH this is so frustrating been reading these boards every day since we made our reservations last December for a discount code for September and now they are out but I haven't gotten the postcard. We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside Sept 20 - 25 and the rate is $133 before tax. Would love to get the $79 rate. Come on Disney PLEASE send me one of those postcards, I am registered every where on your websites, vacation videos etc. and I give a good portion of my income to you.

I'm the same way. I'm already booked for Pop Dec 2-5th though. But I have seriously never gotten anything like the postcards from Disney...

grrrr

I've gotten three post cards in the past 3 months.

The first two weren't a very good deal though. They were for Value resorts for $85 a night or something like that.

I got another two days ago for Values starting at $49. It was good from 8/29-9/29/04.

I already have my trip planned and paid for at POFQ so I'm not using the postcard rate.

I am registered on Disney.com, The Disney Store and have ordered the planning video. I also contacted Disney through email with a question a couple months ago. I don't know why I keep getting the postcards though!

Nicoal, if you received a post card and it is for the time you're going to be at POFQ, call the CRO to have the postcard rate applied to your reservation. Even if you've already paid in full, you'll receive a credit for the difference. And even if the postcard just says value resorts, they'll most likely have good rates for the moderates also.

Have you checked on Mousesavers.com? There should be a discount rate coming soon if not already. Keep checking. Good luck.

You would think that Disney can find me. I have spend sooo much money with them over the last two years.

Seems funny because I get 3 Bank One Disney Visa Card applications a week but no post cards. :headache:

Personally, I think those postcards are as elusive as towel animals!

I have an AP and so does DH. We always reserve rooms under my name, under the hope that Disney will think that DH never stays on-site and therefore they will mail him a postcard. No suck luck yet

I order from TDS. Still no postcard.

I have a Disney Visa. Still no postcard.

I registered on their website. Still no postcard

I don't get it but I am glad to know I am not the only that Disney has "forgotten!"

UPDATE: I got the postcard!! Disney must have heard me. Well actually my boyfriend got the card so we had to rebook our reservation in his name and got POR for $79 a night whoohoo. The only way disney got his name and address is that I had signed him up for all the vacation videos - disneyworld, disney cruise and disneyland and indicated that he had only been to disneyworld once before. I got all the vacation videos too but I indicated that I had been there every year since 1999. So they must be targeting people who have fewer visits.

We have been to WDW and DL several times and finally got a postcard in 2002 for a great introductory rate at AKL. We booked a trip on that rate, and hoped they would send us more postcards when they realized that we book a trip the day the postcard hit our mailbox!

But, I've never received another one. I'm registered at disney.com, have ordered plenty of videos, etc.

Then, we went on a big family trip in Dec. 2003 and took a friend along who'd never been before. Believe it or not, HE received a postcard in the spring. He wasn't registered online at all. I made all the reservations for our hotels so the postcard was sent to my address, but with his name on it.

So, I can't figure out what the pattern is for sending them out.
