How do you get rid of gas?

Get on all fours.

Then lean your face forward, on it's side, on the ground, your arms, by your side (aiming towards your feet)

Then lean your butt up, in the air, dropping your tummy down towards the floor.

Do this a few times, through out the day. It apparently makes your gas bubbles move throughout your body and *poof* :)
Worked for me as well. I had horrible gas pains when I was pregnant...that was the only way I could get it to move along!!!!

Who knew? Doggie?

After my C- it was on my back legs up pull them to my chest behind the knees- :rolleyes1

I don't want to be an alarmist but I would suggest you contact your doctor first, before trying any of these remedies. A week sounds like too long to go with this condition. And, could you let us know how your condition turns out?

Do check with your doctor, as others have suggested, just to be sure there's nothing abnormal happening. But, I remember when I had my gallbladder out, they warned me about pain from the gases used to expand the abdomen. It all traveled up to my right shoulder area... oh, man, it hurt like a son of a gun! I couldn't lay down without a ton of pain. But, it all passed within a day or two.

I had laproscopic surgery last week also, Thurs. and am experiencing some of the same symptoms. I suggest tea and laying on your left side. Also do stretch on all fours with your butt in the air.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

When my mother was pregnant and had gas problems, she would get on the bed, lie on her side, and put a pillow between her legs. Apparently that helped her. :confused3

If you can, a warm bath will help too.

I have Crohn's Disease, and get gas. I also have to have scopes done every so often. The above method is what I've found works better than anything else.

I don't know about outpatient stuff, but on the floors, we never release anyone that isn't farting/pooping. We won't even feed them real food until they fart. So, I'm guessing they checked whatever they had to check before releasing you. Did you get instructions when you left that included farts?

We always, always check. Some people even laugh about how "everyone is so interested in my farts!" :)

If you haven't farted or pooped for days, call the doctor right away. Heck, even if you are making little farts, but are wicked uncomfortable, I'd still call.

Changes in position and movement really do help, so keep it up.

I don't know the process behind this, but I find that a warm bath brings on the farts.

Not trying to be funny here. I had a laparoscopic procedure last week and the gas is absolutely killing me. They told me to walk and use Gas-X. Well, I have chewed Gas-X till I'm sick of them and I have walked every day until my feet are ready to fall off and still this darn gas is lodged in my chest and back.

Any good home remedies? One person told me to hang over a chair but due to the surgery and my sore belly hanging isn't really an option at this point.

I also had gallbladder surgery/hernia repair laparoscopically one week ago today. I had a lot of gas too, but the next day after I came home my intestines were moving around and rumbling. Then next day after that I began passing gas, and continued for many days. I did not have the shoulder pain. I would not think the gas would remain this long after surgery. I would call your doctor again. How are you feeling otherwise? Are you on antibotics? I am having a tough time sleeping. I just started sleeping in bed two nights ago. I can only sleep on my back and can not turn yet to my side.

I just canceled a trip to Disneyland on June 8th, in less than two weeks) I do not think I will be up for the long car ride and walking around. I rescheduled for four weeks from now.

I hope you feel better soon!

Well im feeling much better today. Still feel a little bloated but not as bad as it was. Ive been drinking tea and trying to lay on my left side when in bed. Had some really good burps yesterday so I guess some of it came out. Im only 1 week post op so I think a lot of it is just my not feeling normal again yet. I guess that will come. I see the surgeon tomorrow so I will ask him.

My husband has Crohns, too, and he swears by the heating pad. Makes the gas expand and move and helps to relax the stomach muscles.

I wish I could lay on my side, It will be a happy day when that happens. Are you eating yet? Do you have staples on your incisions?

I was also told to use a heating pad in the shoulder area for gas pains.

No, im on fluids but that is what he put me on. I had Lap-Band so I can't have solids yet. No staples, my incisions are healed. The biggest one is for my hernia repair he did too, but no staples there either.

Im gonna try the heating pad today on my back and see if that will move the rest of it out. Getting on all fours and rocking really does help to get it moving.

If you had the lap-band you probably already know this but if you get on obesityhelp.com they can be of much more help because a lot of them have been there.
