How do you get in the mood for Disney?

First I will say this: If I don't have a Disney trip planned, I try my hardest not to think about Disney, visit the boards, or even watch Disney movies cause I get all depressed :guilty:

The good thing is, I'm ALWAYS planning my next trip so here is what I do to pass the time!:

-countdown countdown countdown!!! Got a widget on my computer and sometimes we make mickey heads on a yarn to tear off each day

-call my Disney buddy and talk talk talk bout all things disney!! :goodvibes

-watch disney movies

-watch videos on youtube

-read my Passporter, hidden mickey's guide, and Lou Mongello's trivia books

-visit disboards

-read trip reports

-go through old vacation photos

-watch the travel channel's season of disney I recorded on DVR last spring

-go to disneyworld.com and "book" fake trips...just to see how much they would cost

-go to touringplans.com and look at the crowd calenders

-help plan other people's vacations

-listen to disney music

-listen to wdw radio podcast while working out

-dream about disney!! i do this waaaaay too often! :rotfl:

I think I'm a lot like most DiSers! We think, live, and dream all things Disney! Sometimes I wish there were a 12 step program...I would probably save A LOT of money in my lifetime if I could just give it up!!! :lmao: But what an aweful life it would be without Disney! :scared1: I think I'll stay broke and be happy! :hippie:

I'm lucky enough to be able to just go when I want to (I don't know how y'all do it!). HOWEVER, I was laid up and couldn't go and I can't remember what my DH was making for dinner but it triggered the strongest Main Street memory :goodvibes:. That time, I went and found all the rides on youtube and had my own virtual theme park day :rotfl:

I like to go on YouTube and find people's home videos of their trips...its like people watching in the park but you get to see the World through their eyes! I also check the Travel or Discovery channels and see what Disney programming they have going on...always fun to watch them make the magic. And last, but not least, I get out my free vacation planning DVD's and watch them again, lol

Good Luck with your wait and you picked a great time of year to go! You not only have all the WONDERFUL Disney theming...you get to add Holiday decor and the resorts look amazing in December! Doesn't hurt that the weather is usually AWESOME in December, too:woohoo:

To prepare for our trip in May my GF and I are watching all the Disney movies on this list that are highlighted in red and yellow plus a few more that aren't highlighted like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Disney_feature_films

So far we've watched 3 :thumbsup2

I also have been watching those movies on that list! They are mostly on Youtube! popcorn::
We are up to 9 now, we saw Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D yesterday :thumbsup2

I love it when the shows about WDW come on the Travel Channel just before we leave. I watch them almost every time they're on.

IM IN THE MOOD ALL YEAR FOR DISNEY :lmao: This is my wife ->:sad2: because I talk about Disney so much

I love it when the shows about WDW come on the Travel Channel just before we leave. I watch them almost every time they're on.

That is exactly what we do. I subscribe to a website that lists all of the shows that has to do with WDW for the week and record them because my family likes to watch them as well. I also listen the live365.com and listen to all of the park/attraction/resort music everyday.

We do a few things to get in the mood. My favorite is to listen to Live365.com internet radio (it's free) - my 2 favorite stations are Sorcerer Radio and Radio Buena Vista - they play music from around the parks, ride audio, parade and fireworks show soundtracks - it's awesome!

Watching the planning DVD is another thing we like to do. Reading these boards is a daily activity as we get closer and closer. I even check out the menus on allears.net once in a while.

:sunny:

I do a variety of activities to get in the mood:

1. I hang out on these boards A LOT!

2. Do Disney crafts with the kids (lanyards, visors, necklaces, etc)

3. Look at old pictures

4. Make a countdown calendar with Disney activities each day (I start about 45 days out)

5. Sew the kids a new costume for the trip

6. Help the kids make a scrap book of last years trip

7. Get the kids involved in the planning

8. Disney cd's and movies

9. Disney planning CD

10. Disney games - charades, trivia, etc as a family

11. Make a packing list

Those are the first ones that came to my mind. Believe it or not, we do these things for every trip!

When are we not in the mood? We watch movies, listen to music, disboards, look at www.disneyworld.com, all kinds of things. We make our meal reservations as early as possible because, heaven knows, you won't get in if you don't! My youngest son makes a list of rides he wants to go on, items he wants to look for, etc. We started a countdown a while back and collected acorns, too. My youngest throws one out every day. They'll be all gone when it is time to leave for our vacation. Of course, we, too, are a little obsessed!

I am always in the mood for Disney! :cool1: It helps that a friend of mine is a CM and I talk to her daily!

First trip to WDW, right? For getting in the mood, just wing it. It will come naturally for you after you return home.:earsboy:

Breathe in, breathe out. Yep I'm in the mood for Disney. ;)

That and trying to figure out how to convert my fiance' to a Disney nut like I am. He doesn't stand a chance. :woohoo:

I spend lots of time here on these boards...just like everyone else(Thank goodness!!) and I also listen to DisneyTunes on my computer. I love the fact that it plays songs from the lands as well as rides and movies. I even let my kiddos at school listen to it!!!!!;) Nothing like starting them young on the love for the mouse!!! Enjoy your trip :santa:

We're always in the mood for Disney!

But, one thing we do to help build even more excitement is make a countdown calendar. I buy posterboard, make a calendar and the kids decorate it with Disney stickers. Then, they take turns marking off each day until our trip.

We also put our Four Parks One World CD into pretty heavy rotation (heavier than normal :lmao: ).

I chuckled when I read this topic. If my husband had seen it, he would have replied, How do I get her out of the mood?!? :)
