How do you get from MCO to Universal?

I'm a newbie to the Universal discussion group and couldn't find an answer using search...sorry if this topic is repetitive.

From the sticky thread, it appears as though there is no "Magical Express equivalent" for Universal.

After several trips to WDW with the kids we are adding on a few days at the beginning of our next Disney trip to go to Univeral. We always rent a car for WDW, but I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to somehow shuttle/taxi to Universal since we won't need a car while we are there. This would save us the daily parking charge at the hotel and 4 days of a car rental.

There are 6 of us to transport. Plus then we'd need to get one back to the airport to pick up the car at the end of our stay (unless there is a place to pick up near Universal where we could then drop off at MCO).

Might not be worth the hassle, but if there is some savings involved I'm going to look into it.

Anyone found deals to get 6 people to the HRH? Thanks!

I believe it's been posted a few times that Mears transfer is $18 a person in a van. Last time we did towncar service, don't know if you can do that with 6 people though and this time we will taking a cab from AKL to PBH but there's only four of us.

Alot of people use Mears.You can get A 1/2hr store stop and pricing is cheaper then taxi service.Here is the link:

when you check out, do mears for one adult back to the airport to get the car.
that person can come back and pick the rest of the group up.


or you could do the car rental at one of the places that is near universal, depending on which car company you are using.

it probably would be cheaper and easier to use the car rentals that are near the UO hotels.

is it two families that are going to universal?

Thanks everyone for the replies! It is my family of 5 plus one grandma (so we'll be in two rooms at the HRH). I like the idea of picking up a car near Universal - just wasn't sure if they charge extra for returning at the airport vs. returning where you picked it up at Universal. I'm going to do some searching on the internet.

I just got back last night from hrh. I have 4 in my family, 2 adults and 2 kids, and we took a taxi both times. It cost us between $41 to $44 plus tip.

There is a Hertz rental at RPR - I think it is considered a "Hertz Local Edition". During my recent stay I needed to rent a minivan to go visit family. It took about an hour to get a minivan from a different Hertz location since I did not have a reservation.

To get to/from MCO during our recent trip, we used Murray Hill transportation service. It was 105 rt + tip for 8 of us.
