How do you get codes/pins?

It seems like the pins/discounts/codes that Disney sends out are few and far between...so my questions is how do you sign up to possibly get one and how do you know if you've gotten one?

You can always call and ask, because you never know.

But you can create an account on the Disney.com site. Create and save a few trips.

My advice is to not visit the site again for awhile after you do this, because then Disney tends to send out PINs for your dates to try and entice you.

Others reported booking trips and cancelling them, then getting PINs via email or snail mail to entice them.

Some people say that they keep getting PINs after they booked a trip, but my personal theory is that this has to do with having multiple emails or addresses registered with Disney (because most evidence points to not getting a PIN if your activity with past trips and site visits make you seem like a sure bet to pay full rack rate).

DH just got a pin card in the mail -- his third. I have never received one. DH hasn't had a reservation in his name in years, because he usually doesn't vacation with us. I have one or two trips booked per year in my name. He gets pins, I don't. I am guessing they know I'll go anyway (though I always book with some discount or another) so they don't need to send me a pin. I have never paid rack rate/full price for everything though. :confused3

I get them constantly when I'm not planning a WDW vacation...It seemed like I received one every month in 2010!!

Now, of course, when I really want one for next April I haven't received any yet. It's totally hit and miss. I have 3 different e-mail's registered in my family to increase the likelihood of getting one. For whatever reason it's my wife's e-mail that gets most of them.

Good Luck

We just got our very first PIN :thumbsup2 I'm so psyched! It was sent to my daughter's e-mail address but mine is the one they have in their system for our reservations...Go figure. :confused3 We both are signed up on the Disneyparks web-site so that must be how she got it....I don't care, I just hope they keep coming. The pin was the room-only discount to end of Dec. We are going in March and we're hoping for a room-only discount..:surfweb:

I've read that you have a better chance of getting PINs if you set up an online account on the disney.com website and you periodically request one of their information DVDs about their parks, cruises, or adventure vacations. I set up the account but didn't get any PINs for about 2 years. Then I requested 2 DVDs and got a PIN offer. That was in 2009. I received at least 5 PIN offers from Disney in 2010 but I didn't make a reservation that year. I did use a PIN to make a reservation back in February, for the week after Thanksgiving, and I haven't received a new PIN since then.

Last year I received 3 different PIN codes. Then all of the sudden-------POOF-----off of the PIN radar :confused3

I have tried everything under the sun to get another one, I feel like a DisneyWebsite Stalker!!! And still nothing. I think I would pee all over myself if the email came through.

And if I EVER got one in the Mail... What would the neighbors think of the "Psycho Disney Freak"!!!!

So if anyone has any other "little tricks" they want to share, feel free to fill me in.

My boss got two great pin codes. I put them in to look at what rates for my upcoming trip. The price for four nights is what I am paying for three.

I got a rate code and put it in and it is almost $300 more than his code.

I called Disney and they had no explanation.
