How do you get along with your neighbors?

I just thought I would ask this because of something my neighbor did tonight.

We talk occassionally, she lets my DS-9 watch her cat while she is out of town, and she pretty much keeps to herself.

We had dinner on our deck tonight and about a half hour after we were done, she knocked on our sliding glass door.

Kind of scared us, but she had a bouquet of flowers straight out of her garden. Absolutely beautiful.

What a nice person....now I just have to keep the cats away from them!!:D

mine is a crimminal, and so are his kids

My neighbors are all of my SO's family, or some of his exs' families. I feel like I need to move far, far away ALL the time.

My neighborhood is full of hermits. If you don't have kids or dogs to walk, nobody has much to say to you. I gave up on them. I even tried giving away some of my flowers, but it goes nowhere. So I just keep to myself.

My neighbours in all directions are retired people with nothing to do but look out ther windows and make judgemental remarks on what everyone else is doing or should be doing or what they did last week.

(but I don' t think they are criminals)

>>^..^<<

Our neighbors are mostly nice, quiet older people, but somehow in mid-June, all these bratty pre-teen kids showed up and started congregating in the streets, getting in the way and making noise. Was I like this 18 years ago? Maybe it's just coming back to haunt me!

We moved into this neighborhood 4 years ago and couldnt have gotten luckier with our neighbors. :D
There are all boys in the neighborhood which works out well for our DSs. The adults couldnt be nicer. I was shocked when people actually came over, brought us gifts and introduced themselves when we first moved in. I didnt think people did that anymore. Everyone is so friendly and would do anything for you.
In fact we are even taking one family of neighbors to WDW with us in August...and when we told another neighbor about it, she offered us her motor home to drive down in. ;)

We live in a small neighborhood with only 20 houses so we all pretty much know each other on some level. Everyone is pretty nice and although I tend to stay away from some of them as I feel there are issues in their homes that I would prefer not to know about and I don't let my kids into their homes, there is no one I dislike. I have about half a dozen that I'm very friendly with which is nice because they watch out for my kids and our house when we're away and we return the favor.

I live on a new neighborhood 2+yrs old, on a court with 20+ kids. We all talk, we went on vacation with one neighbor, we go boating together, hang out.
I couldn't be luckier!

Prior to that we lived with criminials, drunken stabbings & bonfires in front yards.

Yes, we are very happy now.:D

Inlaws on one side, nice neighbors on the other side. Nice people all around.

We live in a condo / townhouse. 4 units in bldg. 2 other familes are GREAT! One is WEIRD!!!

The one adjoining us brings dinner to our door about 2 times per week within 5 minutes of me arriving home from work!!!! :) This is great since I don't really like to cook. :teeth: My DH helps him with his computer in return. They cook on the grill alot ..and are always offering us food. LOL They have their entire family over on Mondays....and we are often invited. We feel like part of the family. I never want to move!!!!

He & DH bang on the adjoining wall as a signal to each other to meet at the front door. They talk everynight it seems. We joke that we should just cut a door in between the units like an adjoining hotel room. LOL

Now......my OTHER neighbor. Well, let's say I feel like I live in a whte trash trailer park sometimes. He's had the police called on him several times by myself & others because he stands in the door & picture window NAKED!!!!! Girlfriend & her 2 kids moved in. All I hear is screaming, swearing & fighting....in & out of the house. I want to move!!!!

It's such a contradiction!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we just moved into our neighborhood in January and have been quite lucky. We have great neighbors so far. One set has a DD the same age as our DD and the other set has a DS the same age as our DS (within a couple of months). They will go to school together.

I'm lucky on my section because I have no other kids and only one neighbor across the street from me , they are a very nice family. But then , in the middle of the same street we have a bunch of unruly teenagers with parents who don't care about anything, and don't respect anyone, let their kids speed up and down the roads with their cars, dirt bikes and four wheelers, one of them was stupid enough to use one of those railings that they use for skateboarding. One of the kids has one of those removable railings, they usually place it on the road and slide with the skateboards there, this one kid was stupid enough to do that , but with his own car!! who would do that with his car?

Shannon, I know we've discussed this before!!:teeth: My neighbors are all MY side of the family and I would love to move far far away many times!!!

I have wonderful neighbors! The people across the street gave us cookies when we moved in. They are very generous to us and the kids. They have lived in the neighborhood since the house was built (about 50 years). The son, who lives there now with his aging mom, has tons of tools that he lends my husband.

Our other neighbors are very nice too. There are lots of kids around for my kids to play with. Great neighborhood. We've made lots of friends here.

We get along with them fine. Generally just small talk, but there are no problems. The people that live directly behind us like to scream at each other alot, which is terribly annoying, but we pretty much ignore them or close the windows and turn on the A/C.:D

We've lived in our house for 15 years now and love our neighbors and neighborhood. One next door neighbor has only been there for a little over a year and they don't speak much English but they are very sweet, the other next door neighbor has become a good friend over the years.

We have an annual block party on National night out, and since a weeknight doesn't always work for everyone, we started having a second annual block party on a Sunday afternoon across several backyards (including ours, actually it was 90% in ours) and it always works out so well, so many people help out that no single person is ever left with too much to handle.
