How do you get a suite at a Disney Resort anyway?

Some suites you can see and book online. Many are only available by calling directly or booking with a TA. Depends on the resort.

Sometimes suites show online--for example, I am going marathon weekend in January with my spouse and 4 kids. When I put that information in to see what reservations are available for my date, one option it brings up is a 2 bedroom, club level suite at AKL ($1742/night)

It also brings up "Outer Bldg-1 Bedroom Suite -Club Level Access" at the Grand Floridian for $1610/night.
