Does it need to be wrapped up in anything? Thinking of flying down a case

You're kidding!!!
Please; tell us you're kidding!!!
They have lots of water in Florida, so, unless it's for special medical purposes to be used on the flight; water is very heavy and they'll charge you lots of $$$ for extra baggage by weight.

Well, I don't think they're kidding. It's not an unreasonable question at all. Maybe they won't have a rental car and don't want to pay the expensive cost for water at the resorts. In December, my DS6 and I went to WDW. Since my DH didn't go, I didn't get a rental car and I wanted to take some water for us so we wouldn't have to pay the higher cost for water. As mentioned in the previous post, water is very heavy and packing water can be pretty dangerous :) so I bought miniature waters and put them in my carry-on. It was pretty heavy going down, but well worth the cost and time savings. :thumbsup2

We took a case of bottled water down in a suitcase once then used the bag to haul our Disney purchases home. Due to stricter weight limitations we now do a grocery stop on the way from MCO to WDW. We picked up 2 cases of 24 at Publix for about $6 each earlier this month.

take advantage of the grocery delivery services - see the DVC board for the names. They deliver right to your hotel.

Or even Staples. They charge less than $10 to deliver.

If you are going to want water, then I would imagine that you will be wanting other groceries. If so, either just ship a box of stuff to your resort, or use one of the grocery delivery services. Yes, they do charge a delivery fee..usually around $10-15. But, you are going to have to pay to either ship or carry that water on the plane.
If you want only water, I would just buy it in WDW. I think that we sometimes overplan...myself included. I, on one trip, was obsessing over how to get my water, snacks and some pop tarts to WDW....oh, should I just use try to pack it all and hope not to go over the weight limit on the plane, should I ship it, should I use a delivery service. Oh yes, I was giving this way too much importance. I got my head on straight (finally) and decided to just use a grocery delivery service and bought more stuff than I would have been able to pack. Actually saved me money in the long run since I ate most of my breakfasts and some lunch in my room!! Yep, we all over think our trips and then get 'penny wise, pound foolish'.
I would make up a list of all you might need in the way of food, and then use a buying/delivery service.

I know someone that once brought a case of Propel Fitness Water with him to WDW. He packed it in his suitcase and thankfully didn't have any problems with bottles breaking open or leaking. I don't think he did anything special with packing; just put the factory-wrapped case in his suitcase and secured it with clothing packed in.

This was back when it was first introduced and only in a few select markets. DW and I drove to WDW that trip and met him and his DW at the airport, and offered to find a store with that water in Orlando, but he didn't want to put us to the trouble so he brought it with him.

Believe it or not, the person is a moderator :teeth: and no, it wasn't me! :p

Personally, I think he was lucky none of it busted open. Now that the airlines are cracking down on heavy baggage, someone wanting a case of water like that would be better off getting a town car with a grocery stop or having it delivered.

Hi, my name is Jennifer, I am a water snob :snooty:

Can't stand the "stuff" they call water down in FL. I prefer my tasty Poland Springs water from Maine. I've used www.netgrocer.com twice to ship water down to my resort. I call the resort directly, tell them I'm shipping a package and need the correct address. I then order it about 10 days in advance and once they give me a ship/receive date I check it and reschedule it to arrive the day before I am to arrive. I had an experience once where I ordered too close and they couldn't deliver it until near the end of my vacation.

IF for some reason I can't get that, I always use a car service, so I take advantage of the free grocery stop they offer and pick up some Dasani or something - but never Zephyer Hills! Haven't tried the grocery delivery services, doesn't appeal to me, I'd rather choose my own stuff.

Good luck!

That's exactly what I did at the Polynesian, and it went very well. But, you can get exactly what you want from the grocery delivery services. You give them the list and they buy it. I haven't ever had a problem with having to make a substitution...I'm sure that any grocery delivery place is going to be able to get Poland Springs. I know that when I go in Oct I'll be putting in an order with someone...I just haven't decided who yet. I did use wegoshop.com in June and it was fine, but they did have some issues later on and changed hands. Now, we have gardengrocer.com as a board sponsor, so I may be using them. We'll see.

I'm sorry - what's your number again? :teeth:

I have to have my raspberry Dasani, so I pack it in my bags if I don't have a rental car. 3 bottles per gallon sized ziplock (which I always need on vacation anyways) and 2 bags of water per suitcase. For 9-12 bottles of water, it isn't worth odering from a delivery service, and I'm not even sure I could get it if I wanted to.
