How do you find trip cancellation and interruption insurance?

Our credit card only offer up to $3,000 of trip cancellation insurance per trip. We may book a Disney cruise at some point, so that won't cover it......I did a Google search and didn't find anything super helpful (but it was very expensive). Any ideas?

I have never done it, but with the BMO airmiles mc, I can add additional coverage to the card insurance, and pay the extra. You would call and ask for a quote for additional coverage .

I called around to some local insurance companies. I'm not sure what your or maybe your spouses' employment situation is, but maybe check with the HR department. Some companies (especially places with unions) have 'deals' in place with insurance companies for this sort of thing.

I ended up going with Johnson MEDOC coverage. For about $120 per year, I have cancellation and extra medical coverage for up to 9 trips per year, as long as each trip is no longer than 17 days in length. I have up to $9000 cancellation per person, per trip, and it also includes luggage woes too. If something happens, I call their 1800 # and they get the ball rolling lightning fast. Thankfully I've never had to use the coverage though, but its good to have just in case

The one thing I found though, is some companies have certain policies in place for already booked trips. If you currently have no vacations planned it won't matter, but some companies told me that if I buy the insurance within X number of days of my initial vacation booking, I'm ok. If its outside that range, sometimes that particular trip will not be covered, OR they might add on an extra fee to include that trip.

My card offers trip delay but not cancellation and my ex's medical insurance covers me so all I was really looking for was cancellation insurance. I used to use Presidents Choice but on a whim called my own insurance broker and they called around and got me great coverage for about half to 2/3rds the price PC wanted. It was too easy and I'll definitely do that route again.
