How do you find someone online?

I'm looking for an old friend and have done a google search with his name and also looked at classmates, he isn't there. I have also done a people search and a white pages search and come up emptyhanded.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where else I might look to possibly find an email for this person?

USSearch.com will start you off if you know age, state, and full name. Then from there you can start looking for phone number and address.

I just found my former best friend. I had not talked to her in 12 years. I found her thru www.intelius.com. I found them to be more current than ussearch. I talked to her last Friday. Good luck!!

Edited to add that my friend was thrilled that I had found her. I initially left her a message and left it up to her if she wanted to call me back or not.

I make the suggestion that you not try.

About a year ago, I received a message in my e-mail that someone was looking for me. It scared the daylights out of me. I don't have a clue who the person was.

I deleted the e-mail. Since then, I use false names usually, and rarely give my full address even when they ask for it. I very rarely pay anything online.

The danger of someone dangerous being the one looking for me is far too great for my comfort. For all I know, it could have been my violent abusive exhusband.

I echo totalia's cautiousness. In some instances "looking for an old friend" could be considered borderline stalking.....it's quite possible the "old friend" might not want to be found.

Good luck but use caution and please understand if the other person isn't overjoyed that you searched for them.

On the other hand, if this is something you KNOW your friend would be thrilled about, I wish you all the best.

I don't agree with this statement at all..........not to try. When I first got my computer I started searching for girl that I had been best friends with since 4 years old, we had spent summers together at my familys cottage and she was almost like a sister, although because of divorce I ended up in Wis. with my mother and as we grew through high school we just lost touch. When I started searching, I knew it would be difficult since most women change their names, but a stroke of luck took me to her mother, although she was now living in AZ a long way from Chicago! The girl also was in AZ , and when we met it was like we never were apart! I think it is how you go about it and how good of friends you were........but finding people from your past that you were on good terms with can be magical! There was a line from a Harry Chapin song that has always stayed in the back of my mind "Old friends are so much better than new ones, since they know where you've been and now know where you are"
I just say that maybe the best thing to do if you find someone is to either call.........if they are listed (and if they are listed I don't think they are afraid of anyone finding them or write them a postcard. I know it is a dangerous world out there but sometimes we have to trust a little, otherwise we could be very lonely.
