How do you feel about remixes and remakes?

It has been my observation that people either really like remixes and remakes, or can't stand them. I am usually one of those can't stand them kinda people, but there have been a few songs in which I really enjoy a revamped version.

For example: "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley is ok, maybe even good, but the remix by DJ Sammy is AWESOME!! I love that song!!! Actually I really like most of DJ Sammy's remixes, "Heaven," "Dreams of Love," and "Take My Breath Away" are some of my favs that he has done.


I have gotten so very hooked on that "Boys of Summer" song that I find myself constantly singing it around the house! I was first attracted to it in a weird way. I had watched the movie Bloodwork with Eastwood in it, and in one scene he asks a women what is missing in her husbands SUV, and she mentions that his sunglasses are gone. She calls them Wayfarers. I had never heard of Wayfarers before that I could remember....a day later I am listening to the "Boys of Summer" song and it mentions wearing Wayfarers, so I do a search on them, but can't figure out the spelling...of course being the resourceful person I am I search for the lyrics to the song to get the spelling of the sunglasses.

That was probably more info then any of you wanted or needed...but what can I say, I am bored and rambling!! So do you like remixes, and what songs do you like?

As a rule, I don't care much for them, but sometimes the result isn't that bad. Fatboy Slim has a good knack for it.

I absolutely hate them. I'm sick when I hear Smashing Pumpkins or Dixie Chicks singing "Landslide". GROSS!

I can't stand them.

I'm hooked on Johnny Cash covering Nine Inch Nails "Hurt". IMHO better than the orig. and the video is amazing.

I'm not fond of the Landslide versions either...

Wayfarers... man, that takes me back to my high school days.. Miami Vice was the big TV show!

I am just about to launch Winamp on some mixes of the Alphaville song Forever Young. Saw it in some car commercial so went to download it and got some mixed also. It was our senior high 'class song'.

I in general like listening to mixes, it seems to make the songs even better in some cases.

Now, one of my favorite mixes that I tracked down from a radio station broadcast is called "Sunchyme " from Dario G. Anyone want to guess what song that is a remake of (without cheating and looking the song up)???

Some of the other remixes I have right now are: Some ABBA song remixes, Better Off alone, The Bad Touch, Sweet Dreams, Oh what a night, Kungfu Fighting, Tainted Love, Dance Hall Days, The Time Warp, Human Behavior, and Heart of Glass. I like looking for them and will prolly try to find those DJ Sammy mixes. thanks!
