I am completely new to the whole Disney experience and am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of pre-planning involved. We are spending two days in Disney (between Xmas and New Years). I have been reading how important it is to get reservations for all our meals. We have purchased the dining plan and are staying for one night in Wilderness Lodge. I have made reservations for a late lunch on day1 at Whispering Canyon Cafe but would appreciate any recommendations for dinner in/near MK on day1, lunch in/near AK on day2 and dinner in/near Epcot on day2.

Would you mind giving us a bit more info? Who is in your party .. kids, adults? .. people with very picky taste? .. do you want a character meal?

You are going at the busiest time of the year. You will need to to be flexible with time and choices, but you should find something. When you go at slower times, there is not so much planning needed.

I'll give it a shot ..

dinner in/ near MK - if you want a character meal, Liberty Tree Tavern is very good. If you want to take the monorail over to the Polynesian, the Kona Cafe has great food.

lunch in/near AK - Tusker House is very good

dinner in/near Epcot - Rose and Crown, Le Cellier .. outside of Epcot .. Spoodles

I agree that you can't go wrong with Liberty Tree Tavern in MK- it has a great character all you can eat family style dinner, turkey, stuffing, salad & dessert. We're also fans of The Plaza restaurant in MK; great sandwiches, 1 easily fed 2 of us.
I think Restaurant Marrekesh in Morrocco is great if you have adventurous eaters something very different to try. The best $ deal in my opinion is the counter service / take out fish & chips in Great Britain next door to Rose & Crown.

Sorry, I should have given more info. Two adults, two kids (DS9 and DD6). A character meal would be great but I think they are difficult to come by this late in the game. Kids can be picky at times but as long as pizza, chicken fingers or a pasta dish are offered, we're in good shape.

Thanks for your help! These boards are great!

In my experience its pretty easy to get an ADR at odd times - like early lunch 11 AM or the first dinner seating at 5 PM. You might be surprised, but you are going suring busy season. SOunds like no one you're with is too picky so you'll be fine any where. Have fun!

If you ask for reservations at 11 and they say nothing available..ask for 10:55, 11:05, 11:10.....or ask if there is anything in between 11 and 1 available...the minute you ask for a specific time..they may not have it....instead of asking for 11 ask if anything is available between 11 and 12! Have a great time!

Spoodles on the boardwalk for dinner at Epcot. 7 minute walk from Epcot to the restaurant and the food is really, really good. Boma is great at the AK lodge, although I'm not sure if they have lunch. You could try for a late breakfast. MK...heard LLT is good although haven't been there yet...going in Jan though. Good luck!

You've received some good advice already, but one thing jumped out at me - if you're having a late lunch at Whispering Canyon, you may well not need or want a full dinner that evening. WCC will give you a *lot* of food.

That may be an evening to just get something from the Main Street Bakery, rather than a full meal.

As for your Epcot-area dinner - I'm a fan of the buffet at Cape May Cafe, in the Beach Club. Not a long walk at all.

Good luck - you're brave (or a bit foolhardy?) to go to WDW that week!

In/Near MK - Hop on the monorail to the Poly and go to 'Ohana, the kids will love it

In/Near AK - Go to AKL and eat at Boma, IMHO the best meal at Disney

In/Near Epcot - Too many to choose look at the menus on allears and see what suits you best.

Unfortunately, it may be too late to get good ADR's for the time you are there
