How Do You Do DVC ?

5 trips this calendar year, at least 5 nights each. We do pay weekend points sometimes.

2 with family and friends
1 me with a friend
2 with just the 2 of us

We're empty nesters but still working. I'm p/t and have more time to visit WDW. We look forward to a time when DH and I can spend perhaps most of the month of January at DVC. We have 855 points, and have always been in a borrowed state, but we thoroughly enjoy the use we get from our points!

We don't have that many points, like you... We have only 200. We tend to take one trip per year and then an extra trip every other year. We typically only do the Sunday to Thursday trips.

Like Rob, we only have 224 pts. We will take a trip once a year, and about every two years get another 5 day trip in. I bank my larger contract for the family trips that usually happen every two years. I am grateful for my annual trips!!

We have 175pts. all at BWV. The past 5yrs. or so we have gone every 18 months for approx. 7 - 10 days staying in a 1BR. Usually in Dec. and then again in June or July. We bank or borrow as needed usually not many pts. are leftover or borrowed approx. up to 35pts. This seems to work the best for us and we may add on 50pts at another resort in the next year or so, to move up to a 2BR as the kids get older.

We bought DVC to support our annual trek to Lotusphere each January. We enjoy a full 1BR unit for just the two of us ... usually for 7-12 nights.

... one in January to go to a IT conference for a week.

Woohoo! More Lotusphere people! We bought into DVC right after Lotusphere this year, so we would never have to stay in the Dolphin again....and it was the best thing we could have done. We've so far taken one WDW trip, one DL trip and have scheduled 4 more WDW trips and 1 more DL trip this year. We're lovin' the DVC.

As for now we will have to do just one major trip a year. Our kids are 16,13 and almost 10, so when we go down we have airfare for 5 (we drove once; never again) to figure in. Plus, I can't go except on school breaks since I teach, DH is busy in summer, so we either go spring break (like this year and next) or summer. Then in summer we have to figure in cheer camp, kids' mission trips...you get the idea. It's hard enough to get one week in!
When the kids start leaving DH and I might start going down more, like over MLK weekend or something. But for now it's just one big trip a year.

Hi, we have 3 kids too, 14,12, and 7 and are trying to decide if we should drive or fly down this year. If you don't mind me asking why wouldn't you ever drive again? Is it really bad? We haven't driven down in 10 plus years, so it is hard for me to remember what the drive was like.

I'm up to 550 points per year, have no kids... We usually go to WDW for 1 to 2 weekends each year for relaxation purposes... I usually bank a lot of points every year and we decide on a DCL trip...

Trying to figure out what to do this year... I have 789 points and no reservations...
