Wondering if anyone has made (or had someone make) a display for pressed pennies? That is DD's favorite thing to bring home from trips, but once we are home they just sit in the small book we bought at Disney a few trips ago. I have seen things similar to the fish extender things people take on cruises used for different souvenirs after the trip but never one for pressed pennies.

So what do you do with your pressed pennies after your trip?

Open the book and stand it up along side other worthless souvenirs.

LOL Aren't you just a ray of sunshine and rainbows!?!?

Value is in the eye of the collector.

OP: You could try something like this - http://nessatheprocrastinator.blogspot.ca/2012/10/pressed-penny-specimen-art.html , but with a Disney-themed background. It could be a nice keepsake, for your child's wall.

Thanks! That looks really cute and my DD and DS would love those!!!!

In my own way - yes, yes I am.

Before we leave, I give my daughter a bag of quarters and shiny pennies.

I enable the collection of this harmless souvenir in exchange for not having to travel home with as many new stuffed toys. The book of pennies is far less mess and sits on a shelf near her pin book.

I will admit, the mounting pennies in a frame is cute, but my child likes touching the coins and manipulating them as her collection grows.

Thankfully, we also collect Disney pins. The value of her current collection could buy her a car. My collection will pay for her college education. Not all Disney hobbies are worthless.

We made bracelets out of DD's collection. She has three Disney-themed ones, though if I had it to do over I've have gone more specific in divvying them up so she'd have a MK bracelet, an Epcot bracelet, a resorts bracelet, etc. She also has a Smithsonian-themed one from our DC trip and an animal-themed one from various zoos we've visited. As souvenirs go, I think these are rather cute, plus they aren't taking up a lot of space, don't require dusting, and are a cheap memento that she enjoys having.

This isn't mine, but it is similar to how we did them. If you look for pressed penny jewelry on Pinterest you'll find lots of other ideas - earrings, charm bracelets, necklaces, etc.

My granddaughters and I press pennies on each trip(I go twice a year with different granddaughters) After each trip we date the back of each penny with a sharpie and I drill a hole near the top. I pick up copper embroidery thread and make a loop for hanging. We have a small Christmas tree used just for pressed pennies from WDW and other adventures we've gone on. As we hang them each year we talk about and remember each trip.

i take our pressed pennies from our trip and put them in a shadow box along with a picture from the trip. I try to make a frame/shadowbox with a picture and some kind of object from every trip we take, disney or not.
