I inherited a mini-fridge in my office that isn't frost free and I see ice starting to build up. I've never had one like this before so I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking of unplugging it and putting a pan and towels in it overnight to catch the water from the ice thawing. It's too big for me to move myself so I need some other way of dealing with it before it becomes too bad.

I've had one in my office for years. I have someone help me take it outside for defrosting (they are easy to move with 2 people). It takes a long time to defrost, even out in the warm sunshine.

The sidewalk outside our school looked like a mini-fridge graveyard at the end of the year last year. Everyone dragged them outside and propped the doors open. By the end of the school day, they were defrosted, dry and ready to be stored for the summer.

Get someone to help you drag it outside. Alternatively, you could toss a couple towels inside and put one or two around it also, bring bags so you can toss the towels in the next morning.

Ours did too! :rotfl:

I used a space heater. I propped open the door and aimed the space heater at it. Made my office hot on an already hot day, but it defrosted quickly and I didn't need to move the fridge. It had a drip pan, but we also were grabbing the chunks of ice out of the fridge and putting them in a bucket so there was less water in the fridge.

We have a mini fridge I just unplug put some towels in it overnight, if its really iced up I've taken a hair dryer to the ice..easy peasy and quick

Towels and a hair dryer used here. Works like a charm and it's ;)quick.
