How do you define "Mom Jeans"?

My definition is high waisted with pleats in the front, with the purpose to "hide" the Mom pooch. It never works, and just looks BAD.

Well let me speak for those of us older than 25. I was taught that if your dad didn't want to see an article of clothing, then it should be covered up. That also goes for the body parts. So I think muffin tops are hideous and the same goes for g-string panties. I was also told not to advertise something if it isn't for sale.

I'm 44 and wear jeans a bit lower than my belly button. BUT I do have enough sense not to wear them so tight to cause a muffin top!

Not sure what I am advertising though- but, my MIL DID ask me what kind of jeans I was wearing and I said "Oh, Old Navy Diva jeans" THAT might be considered an advertisement;)

YUCK!!! Jeans that are WAY too high up on a woman body and make her butt look HUGE and her legs look tiny.:scared1:

I love those jeans:thumbsup2 Oh, and I'm 42:upsidedow

I am a few weeks shy of 65, and do not wear mom jeans. Maybe dad jeans? Or dad Dockers? But, I do wear some clothes now that I would not have thought of wearing when I was 40 and younger, certainly not 30 and younger. There comes a time when comfort trumps fashion, though not saying that comfort can't look good too.

I'm a step beyond mom jeans. I'm in my grandma jeans.:scared1:
Me too!

Fanny packs I agree with. My crocs are adorable!

 your Crocs.

Divas are only low rise. I cannot do ULTRA!:scared1:

But- I would like to add this b/c I keep trying to explain this to MIL. Stacy and Clinton say, which I agree, wear the jeans that come just at your belly button if you have a tummy b/c the waistband acts like a "girdle" to keep the pooch from popping out like it does when people wear "high rise" jeans.:thumbsup2

mom jeans are the kind I fit in comfortably, but look awful in, as opposed to non-mom jeans that I look way better in but am not comfortable///guess which ones I buy?:rotfl:

A reason for high waist jeans? Short tops. Short tops and low rise jeans just don't cut it on a fat chick like me. I figure, if I don't want to look at it, why would anyone else?

i'm old enough to have worn those jeans when they were in style! (the 80's). We thought we looked good! However, about 5 years ago I did finally ditch the mom jeans in favor of stretch bootcut jeans from Lane Bryant. Still not flashy but not icky mom jeans anymore.

I joke that these are no longer mom jeans, but grandma jeans - as most of the moms I know have given them up, but our mothers are still hanging on to them!

Elastic waists must be great-grandma jeans.

How do I describe Mom jeans......what's in my closet!

guilty as charged, here I am shamelessly strutting around DLR as if I was fashionable!

I USED to wear mom jeans...for more years than I want to admit. I've reformed...and lost 46 lbs. I now wear petite sized Levi's 515's. I love the fit, by the way. No muffin tops here. :thumbsup2 They are amazing jeans.:cool1:
