How do you decide which day for which park?

I am having a time trying to decide which park to visit which day. We are going in March during springbreak and it will just be me and DS16. We are staying at Pop and we are flying in on a Saturday afternoon and leaving the next Saturday afternoon. We plan to do a park each of those Saturdays even though we won't get to do very much. We just can't stand not going and it is not that much more for the extra days on the tickets. I have researched and researched and still can't decide. What strategies do you use?

We typically base our days on which parks are doing evening EMH since we enjoy doing that. Our first and final days are always at MK. It just happens to work out for us that MK is doing evening EMH on our first day. :)

We are the opposite - we don't do EMH and have a "loose" plan to follow. I think it depends somewhat on your family and the time of year you go. For instance, we just came back last night and the crowds were very low. We didn't need to follow any real plan. For us, MK is our top fave with Epcot second. We make sure we put the most time into those 2 parks with AK and MGM a day each....not even needing a full day for us.

I usually come up with a plan for which park on which day before I leave home, but once I get to WDW, it pretty much goes out the window. It seems that any time I plan to go to MK the next day, I wake up feeling like Epcot, so I just go there, instead. Not scientific, but it works better for me!

Since you are going w/16 DS, why don't you do:
Sunday MK w/EEH (space mtn)
Monday EMH @AK then MGM w/EEH
Tuesday Epcot EMH
Friday Epcot w/EEH
Water Park and Disney Quest etc. in between those days.
My teen didn't spend more than 1/2 day in MK.

This is exactly how it works for us. I don't really know why we do the advance planning. About the most I try to do now is to book one nice dinner for the trip and just let the rest of the vacation happen.

Since we have Magic Your Way without park hopper, we made a list of what park has late EMH on what days and will be going to those parks on those days. Just our way of doing it.

We tend to use a combination of where we are eating dinner and what we want to do that day. We try to keep plans pretty loose except for dinning since its difficult to get into most table service restaurants without an ADR. For us a vacation is to relax and have fun, so if we don't get to something this trip we will do it next trip!

of late I have just used TGM's what park/what day suggestions, always right on. I note that park in my PDA and check at night where I am going the next.

I checked out touring plans and subscribed . They tell you which parks are best which days and which ones to avoid. They reccommend avoiding EMH as the parks are more crowded and seeing as we did not have any desire to get up for an 8 a.m. opening and with a 5 year old mostly the evening hours are pointless to us we are avoiding those parks. I am making ADR s accordingley I think for us it is Fri Epcot, Sat MGM, Sunday A.K. Tues & Wed M.K. Saving M.K. tilllast!!

I base my park days around where my main ADR's are (Like we MUST eat at Chef Mickey's. so when I can get an ADR there, we do MK that day). I then make my secondary (it would nice if we ate there....) ADR's based on what parks we're in already. Does that make any sense? :confused3

We Always Go To The Park That Opens The Earliest, If I Have Adrs I Schedule Them This Way Too (which I Usually Don't)

I have certain rules about touring I have figured out that seem to make sense for me and my family. Since they often parallel what TGM has to say I won't be specific, but just know that its a good idea to avoid EMHs (unless its like your second day in a park) and arrive early no matter what you do orf where you go.

If the parks opened at 10 a.m. regularly I might make EMH a.m. but I'm sorry 8 a.m. is just tooooo early ! So yes I follow u.g. & t.g.m. and avoid EMH. To me it's not a bonus!!

I take a weighted average of the Unofficial Guide's Crowd Blog and recommended days and Tour Guide Mikes suggestions.

We look at EMH and the amount of time we usually like to spend at each park. We love Epcot and spend the entire day and night when we go there, but AK and MGM tend to take a lot less time. Also check into the weather a few days before you go, that can help plan your time. Have tons of fun :Pinkbounc
