We have 119 days to go until our WDW trip to SSR, a 3 night cruise and VB. I have a DD(almost 6) and DS(almost 4) and am looking for ideas on how you count down to the big day. Do you make a chain and cut off a link each day? Do you have a special meal at the 100 mark? Tell me all of your ideas so I can make this special.

We went last year to WDW as new DVCers and my kids came back literally crying, "I want to go back to Disney World!" :sad1: Therefore, I would like to make the countdown special and hopefully teach a little math in the process.

Thanks!

We have 276 days until our first trip to SSR. DS(5) has already requested a count-down calendar, which I made for him yesterday. I simply printed out calendar pages from Oct to July and stapled them together. I plan to have him decorate special days between now and then as they get closer. He just loves to put a big "X" on each day every morning.

Last year, about 1 1/2 months out, we also made a chain. DS got to practice his cutting skills in cutting the pieces to make the chain, and also with cutting off a link each day. I also numbered them backwards (he cut 45 first, then 44, etc., down to 1) which helped him with his math skills.

I am excited to hear what others have done too - thanks for posting!

We are new DVC members and just came back from our first trip. We made our out of bright colored poster board and Mickey Heads we got in the paint section at Home Depot. Then we put trivia questions or things to do to get us ready for Orlando--be it watch different Disney movies or shop for sneakers or whatever. We added some stickers/scrapbooking type stuff to it too. Austin looked at it first thing every day and bugged his sister to go online to look up the trivia answers. It went over very well. But our next trip is going to be a surprise trip

Wow! What a fabulous idea you have with the calendar and posters. I loved how you put a trivia question on each Mickey head so they are engaged with the countdown. Fabulous job ladies!

My kids are much older so I just start the countdown on our regular calendar and announce milestones but I am loving that one!
