Help! I have blinds throughout my whole house. Some are just dusty and I can find something to clean them with, but is it necessary to take them down and clean them or can I just dust them?

Also, how do you clean the ones in the bathroom that are really dirty with build-up from perfume, powder and sticky hair spray? They really need to be cleaned!

Please advise!

Thanks

Buy one of those swiffer dusters! They are wonderful and get all the dirt off! I use it all the time! Plus it fits under and between almost anything including my stereo pieces!
as for the one in the bath room...no clue maybe take it dow and wash it in the shower?

he is pretty good at this.....he does all the blinds in the tub and washes them and then puts the shower on and lays them on the kitchen table that we laid big towels on......then it is my job to wipe them down.......they looked like brand new ones......

I take mine outside, put them over the deck rail and wash them down. Even if I do dust them it never gets them as clean as soap and water.

I fill up the bathtub with hot water and add liquid laundry detergent. I let the blinds soak for awhile, rinse them, let them dry and they're ready to go! No scrubbing needed! ::yes::

I also put mine in the bathtub but I use Mr. Clean and I have to wipe each individual slat. I will try laundry det. next time!

The one job I force my husband to do. I make him in take them down and use the garden hose on them once a year. Then I use my swifer duster in between. How I ever lived without swifer products is beyond me!

That's it, I'm getting the Swiffer duster! You guys have sold me on it!::yes::

I don't, I just buy new ones.

Just kidding. I also take them out and use a hose to clean them. I spray 409 on them first and let it sit for 5 min. I think I might try the swifter this year.

You mean we are actually suppose to clean them????? lol

Just kidding, I put mine in the bathtub too then hang them on the clothesline to dry (just tie large loops of twine to clothesline and slip the ends of the curtain into the loops as if it is hanging at the window). I do rinse mine in softner and water, the dust doesn't stick as easily so I can go longer between cleanings. Will have to try the laundry detergent idea.

Some times when you clean them they get spotty so I found this stuff called Super clean... It is a degreaser you buy it in the automotive dept. It works great!!!!!! I use it on so many things.
Leather sneakers Keeps them brand new looking and I do mean brand new that white white.. All you have to do is replace shoe strings... it woks on decks stove tops just nothing painted well you can but must add water or you will remove the paint too.
