I have a coffee cake recipe that calls for chopped frozen cranberries, but those cranberries are as hard as marbles. If I put them in a food processor would that work OK? Or is there a way to manually chop them? TIA!

Could you chop fresh cranberries and freeze them?? Or defrost, chop, and refreeze?? I'm not a cook, so I might not have the best advice, but I'd try one of those ideas.

Definitely food process them. I can't imagine a more difficult and annoying task than attempting to chop hard little frozen cranberries!

I have a bag of frozen cranberries in my freezer. I did think about thawing them and then doing the chopping. I guess I could refreeze them.

It makes sense to me to chop them when they are thawed because they'll be softer then, but the recipe specifically says "frozen cranberries."

Thanks!

The recipe calls for the frozen so your coffee cake doesnt bake pink as the cranberries bleed. Use the food processor and only chop them as much as they need, dont overchop.
