WE actually had to go out of town this weekend to move my daughter out of her apt so are just relaxing after the 4 hour drive home. Going to make a green bean casserole I saw on pioneer woman and get some bbq takeout from dustins later, and maybe make a nice dessert too. Seems like we usually go out on Mother's day but stay home on fathers day.

Gifts, cards, meal out at his choice of restaurants, whatever he wants to do really!

DS and DH are at a movie together right now. They've had quite a bit of conflict over the course of DS's adolescence and their relationship has suffered. They try to enjoy each other's company on "common ground" like this whenever possible.

We're the opposite.....stay home on Mother's day (everywhere is crazy busy) and often go out on Father's Day.
We have DH and DS who are the fathers now, so their choice what to eat. This year they want Mexican.....here at our house. So taco bar, tamales and Spanish rice. Plus Cold Stone cupcakes.
Go swimming will be the main happening before hand. DGD loves it.

DD got DH a gift card at Harbor Freight, so he already headed out to spend it.....and did.
The rest of the presents will come when DS arrives.

We are going to go see " Inside Out" this afternoon out this afternoon. DH is a huge Pixar fan. As my girls are still in Elementary school, he got homemade school Father's Day gifts and cards from them. We usually do lunch or breakfast out as well but we just ate out yesterday.

My dad passed away and DHs lives far away so we just do whatever we feel like that year.

I feel bad. I wanted to have my dad over for dinner, but I've been sick this weekend, so I just called him. :(
Hopefully, we can celebrate next weekend.

We hoped to take the boat out, but it was raining when we got up. Planned dinner out, but they're expecting nasty (potentially tornadic) storms and we don't want to be out in that. So, I watched a movie of my choosing off DVR & we're trying to decide what to do about supper.

My son was supposed to have a baseball game today, but it was canceled because of last night's rain. My husband is an assistant coach, so he was happy.

My husband made the kids breakfast, and we did yard work and went grocery shopping.
I did make him a nice drink and we relaxed on the deck for a while in between.

He's currently grilling steaks, while I boil corn, bake potatoes and ice the cake I made earlier . His dad is coming for dinner.

My husband, kids and I are gong to see Jurassic World later.
We bought him a couple gift cards to iTunes and Home Depot.

I made my dad his favorite chocolate cake and am also having a grill out.

DH spent Father's Day cutting up one of our trees that was a casualty to the storm last night. He went to Lowe's for a chainsaw and came back with a chainsaw, a table saw, and a power sander. o_O He asked me to buy him more work clothes, so I bought him a couple of pairs of pants, a couple of shirts, and a tie, and a wallet to replace the one that was stolen Friday morning. Evidently that wasn't really what he wanted, but at least he'll look nice a couple of days this week!
We'll go out to dinner shortly, his pick.
I'm not super-close to my dad. I did invite him to dinner tonight, but my stepmother just got out of the hospital today, so I don't expect to see him.

Yesterday we arrived, ON TIME, to a BBQ at my parents house. :cool1: We are almost always late, so spending the day with his grandsons was my dad's present. DH got to sleep while I was up with DS #3 at 2 am. I stayed home from church with all 3 boys. Then we made cards for daddy, made tacos, and bought a vanilla chai for him.

The past few years we've stayed at home, had cake, gave my husband his gifts and I cooked a nice dinner. We've been preferring that to the craziness of crowds at restaurants and movie theaters in our area on Father's Day.

Our parents live halfway across the country from us so each of us calls our Dads on Father's Day and sends them each a card.

This morning, we went to church, went and had breakfast. Now, DH is out purchasing stuff for his Alaska trip next month with DD and I'm prepping for a cook out. We're having burgers, chips, watermelon and a nice wedge salad. For dessert we're having a strawberry s'more cobbler. Yummy!

For DH's gifts he's getting floor mats for his car and packing cubes. Always something practical for him!

Stepson drove down from Ocean City with his 3 girls to surprise my husband. Brought a smoked brisket with them, and we had it for dinner last nite. They came back early this morning and we made breakfast, then we visited with them till our Stepdaughter came over with 3 of her 4 kids. Then they left to go visit another relative. It wore hubby out, and he's napping till dinner time, which will be leftover brisket, since they had cooked an entire one and gave us half!

Not much. We went out to breakfast because neither of us wanted to cook. Dinner will be steaks, shrimp, and horseradish hash browns. I told my dad happy father's day. He lives with us so he will be having the same dinner (as usual LOL). We don't do much for father's/mother's day. Never have. DS's birthday is around Mother's Day and I was a single parent for years and we just sort of fell into this pattern. It works for us.

We were going to go on a golf trip this weekend but the rain has made that impossible. Maybe next year.

I just do the normal things I do everyday and feel sad- try to stay off facebook because of all the "happy fathers day" stuff, my dad died 30 years ago so no reason to celebrate this "holiday"
