How do you arrange your pins on your lanyard?

This is our first trip to Disney (well since I was 9) and my son (6) is planning on pin trading. He has 15 or so pins to trade and 10 or so to keep. How do you arrange them on your lanyard? Do you put only ones you want to trade? Or one side to trade and one to keep? He is going to wear his favorites on his hat so that takes care of 2 or 3 but what about the rest?

Thanks in advance guys!

My family usually organizes by traders on one side & keepers on the other side of the lanyard. If it gets too lopsided, I'll put keepers on top and traders on bottom (or vise/versa).

DH only has a few pins that he cares about and wears those on his hat, but just a warning; it makes the hat heavy. Lanyards can also get heavy, so don't be surprised if the whole lanyard ends up in your bag for the rest of the day ;)

I personally put one or two of my keepers on the top of both sides then one of my favorite ones right in the middle at the bottom.

Everyone seems to do it a bit different! I don't ever carry too many keepers with me, because they can get pretty heavy at times and I don't like my favorites to get scratched up.

Have a great time with the pins and hope you find ways that are fun for you!!

Last year we had a keeper lanyard and a tradeable lanyard. This year, we got a zipper trapper like thing for pins and our keepers are going in there and our trades will go on her lanyard.

good luck and have fun!

As a pin trader, you may only want to show the pins you want to trade on the lanyard. And wear a couple of favorites on the hat. When a person wants to look at the lanyard, your son would have to explain which are tradeable and which are not. He may get tired of explaining after a while.

Or just wear the favorites on the lanyard and put tradables in a bag. When I trade, I usually walk up to cast members and pull out my tradeable from a bag. Then in another bag I keep the ones I traded for. I only carry a few each day and put my keepers in my suitcase. Less weight.

If your son is only trading with a cast member, then having favorites and tradeables on the lanyard is okay. If he is trading with other people, he may only want to wear the tradeables.

I do agree that the lanyard will get heavy with a lot of pins and you may have to hold the lanyard.
