$250! Here is Portland, Oregon it is over $1,000 a month for quality infant care.
Be firm so that she does not try to ‘work something out’ with you.

Wow!!! I should've done that instead of my 14K-18K to be a center director.

I'm laughing, but only because I just completed my director course (which we have to have in MA to get director cert), and I really have no intention of opening a center right now... too much headache for not enough return. I totally empathize with you.

Honey you should tell her fast and don't feel guilty. You have enough to deal with and if she isn't likely to help you out in return then why adjust your life to make hers easier. I took care of a friends baby for a few months for her. One day he went home with a very small bruise on his backside apparently, and they treated me like I had abused him. Who knows how he got it, although I think it was from the toy that had slid under his butt while he was bouncing up and down in the excersaucer. They pulled him out of my care within a few weeks. I also did daycare for my sister when we had our oldest, who were 8 days apart and both boys. I did that for 16 months until my sister decided that her son needed more socialization then he was getting at my house. This forced me to then go back to work and put my son into daycare because we no longer had the income she was paying me. I have never done daycare for anyone since and never will. I will babysit occasionally no problem, but full time? NO WAY. So if you really don't want to do it, don't!!!! But tell her soon so she can find an alternate plan.

i did tell her that if she works part time 2 or 3 days a week that i would help her out for a fair amount but i could not watch another child full time right now....i dont care if she makes me the bad guy with her husband (dont like him much) but i just cant do it.i just told her i couldnt do it with the current issues i have with my 10 yr old (he has some issues behavior wise)it took me a year to get him into a certain doc and i cant miss the apt. ....
