How do the servers handle a mixed crowd? Family reunion ?

So my family has decided on doing a family reunion at the world next August. 8/23-9/1. Some folks will try out the dining plan while others (like myself) will not. So far we have 6 definite families, total of 22 people probably end up with more.

two questions
1) we plan on only scheduling 4 dinners with the entire family, how do they handle people paying various ways?

2) If we make adr's for say 16 people and only 10 show up, anyone know what happens?

For quite a few of the folks it will be their first time at the world. We are going to get help by using Disneys grand gatherings but If I remember my first time, there were plenty of times we were having too much fun to stop and quite a few of my ADRs (PS back then) went unfulfilled.

For a group your size it might be different, but normally, you just tell the server who is using DDP and who is not and they'll setup the bill correctly. We've done it in the past and it's always been fine.

When you get to the podium let the greeter know that your party now has 10 instead of 16. It's always better to subtract then add to your party

And I'm totally sympathetic but the only other option is to not make any adrs. Out of a potential 42 people only myself and my cousin have been to Disney and know how the ADR system works so I will try my best to reiterate the fact about reservations.

But the bottom line is some will miss the reservations and I'm not about to go with 30 people and try to wing it and I'm the Queen of winging it.

Rusty that is not true at all! It's good when not everyone shows up. We don't have to put as many tables together and can then seat more parties. Although large parties tables are not put together until they check in at the podium, we do anticipate them and assign an area to them. If once they check in they have less we are then able to sit the tables that they no longer need. This then allows for walk ins to get sat as well as people with reservations to get sat earlier then their reservation.

Less is a GOOD thing
