How do the flights work once the airports resume them? Do they honor the tickets as they are issued or do they give 1st priority to those who have been cancelled and then honor tickets? Thanks for the info.

not sure but in the past when flights have been cancelled we have always put those affected by it on the next available flight. when I asked a lot were not sure of it but following those same procedures. for instance the flights that were diverted here to pit will go out first. and if anyone here is traveling to the sasme destination then they can put them on those aircrafts as well. many people have cancelled their ressies due to extreme fear.

The wildcard here is how many people have already found another way home. Considering the fact that our Travel Agent is having a hard time finding rental cars it sounds like a lot of people just gave up and drove! Plus other people are cancelling left and right. Who really knows what will happen. I personally am kind of angry they did not reopen. My feelings are the longer we are in this state the more these madmen have gained! I understand the need for safety and I know they did the right thing in delaying, but I still don't like it!

CarolA - I do completely understand your point of view. It does seem that the airports though are undergoing MAJOR changes in security and probably need the time to get organized. I dont know what country spokesperson I was listening to on the radio eariler but when asked if he was surprised by the FOUR hijacks......he replied 'NOT AT ALL!!!!'

Our airlines need more security. And this should have been done PRIOR to yesterday!!!

supposedly according to one tv national network.......think it was cbs...but not sure......it was stated the reason the air space was not open sooner was more to do with the request of the fbi and the cia ....to make sure if there were others involved that they could not use the "air space" to get away.....

just another aspect of why it took a little longer to ..... re open the air space

due to the fact of seeing several similar reports last night and in the early morning hours about security in the nation's airports. The experts that appeared on different networks that I was watching back and forth stated that overall security in all of the U.S. airports are "by no means equal to one another as well as not being one in the same".

It was stated that many airports at this time/in this day and age are now operating with outdated and improperly working x-ray equipment in a lot of cases along with having a hard time hiring along with retaining security personnel for long periods of time (high turnover rate due to a lot of workers in these positions earning only minimum wage).

Also, learned that the particular company that employed security in the airports that the hijacked planes flew out of was supposedly cited in court a while back due to having workers in the past with questionable criminal backgrounds and those with lack of appropriate training. They also touched a little bit on Logan airport in detail by relating that this facility has had numerous infractions with passenger security beforehand in the manner of distractions taking place during procedure.

Another report stated that some of the hijackers possibly may have even had access to a ramp pass and to other authorized airline items; as a result officials were told be on the lookout for and beware of false or suspicious appearing employees (also mentioned that airline workers in every capacity will likely in the future have to undergo more heightened security checks as a result of this).

Additionally, I saw the official's statement about 'not being surprised about the hijackings at all' and it sent chills up my spine afterwards.

In light of that I know I will never again be as carefree or relaxed about my safety in the air not like previously anyway and definitely be more on guard concerning my surroundings; at least until there are stricter guidelines put into place along with intensive regulations being set forth that are uniform to the entire industry.... which covers 'every single airport' not just some.
