Since Kong has soft opened, does that mean it will run for a few hours every day until the official opening?? We are arriving Saturday and hoping to ride :-)

I would say that it basically means that there is no real operating schedule, it will run sporadically, and you MAY get to ride it while you're there, and you MAY NOT.

Since they are still fixing things, it will run according to their timetable. It is totally unpredictable.

You just never know. The last opening I was involved in, before I now got my seasonal pass, was for the first WWOHP. Essentially you'd show up and they would either let people in, or not. It was not just based off if things were running, but also if they had enough room, as they often closed due to capacity, but would later open back up. Eventually, they would have people wait in line just to enjoy the park.

I think the main thing for Kong though will obviously be whether it's running, or not, and essentially you'd basically would have to show up and see if it's running, if not, you can always come back later unless they state perhaps that it's definitely not running that day (if they really need to work on it a lot). You basically have to have a lot of patience and hope for the best.

It sounds as if for father's day my dad wants to come Saturday, so we might be finding out with you.

Last time we were there it was during the first rumors of it having soft openings. In the morning, there was nothing, but in the afternoon as we walked by I jokingly told my father (who's dying to get on the ride), "Maybe it's open now." He said, "Yeah, right." I only said it, because like I said, they're unpredictable. And funny enough, even though the walls were up, as we walked by I freaked out, as I pointed out that the ride vehicles were running even though it was closed. I immediately reported it on here as I wanted to let everyone know the signs of life that Kong was coming, even though at the time it was still not near soft openings.

Basically, it is a hit or miss for soft openings....

Sometimes you get lucky being at the place at the right time

It has been running every day but after 3 pm or so.

We will be there this weekend, too. It was a last minute decision based on a great APH rate at Portofino. My fingers are crossed that we will get on Kong. When we were there last month for the day, the walls were still up and my son was so disappointed.

I was just told outside of Kong that if there is any soft openings today that it will be around 4 PM possibly. He stated that normally soft openings are around the afternoon, not first thing in the morning during the first few hours of the park being open.

Correct!
soft openings for Kong have been reported before for 3:00 and after

Hope you get to experience it today with your dad!

We're only going for a half day, which is when we usually enjoy the park until about 1, but after that news we're tempted to hang out a little longer to see what happens.

Currently at the end of very long haul of queue for Kong. We just got in line. We've hit most of rides what we wanted to do yesterday and today and our evening plans are just pool and resort time. We are in the shade so it is all good. We will see what happens.

I'm probably around you. Inside right now and right now I hear instructions for the ride and now in the boarding area as I stand.

Oh wow...you probably were because I think we got on the ride right around that time. We got in line around 3pm and just as we were settling in to sit for a while the line started moving. It moved once a short distance then a few minutes later and even longer distance. We ended up stuck outside across from the ride when the rain hit. We waited there a few more minutes before we got to cross over into the real queue.

We walked practically right on through that looooooong queue. Sad we didn't get to see the outside part of the ride but so psyched we got to experience it!

Did you happen to notice a height requirement for Kong?

We rode this evening. It was a 30 minute posted wait and would have been, but technical difficulties shut the ride down and we spent an extra 90 minutes in line. Still great to ride it, though!

Your children seem vaguely familiar. With your specific description I would say you were about 10-15 people in front of me.

And @Djscarlette I took a picture of the wait time (earlier in the day) and warnings, but didn't see a height requirement next to it, so it might be at another place. I didn't notice it when we were getting on, as I was too busy walking in as they kept shouting at us to move along as quick as possible.
