How do ressies across seasons work?

Say I want to book a week at a DVC resort starting on Dec. 31. Dec. 31 is the last day of the "premier" season, so the rest of my nights would be booked in the (much less costly) "adventure" season. How would my points used be determined?

As I recall, if I booked my first night during the least expensive WDW resort season, the rest of my stay would be at that rate, regardless of what season my subsequent days went into. Is DVC the same basic concept?

The points are done by each night so your first night will be premiere and the balance will be adventure.

(I know as we just did the same thing! :teeth: )

Is this a change in policy by DVC ? I am not a DVC member, but I recall reading somewhere a few weeks ago that if you make a ressie for 7 days, it keys off the season applicable to the first day of your ressie. This can be good or bad, but I know that it was a help to me cause we generally go to WDW around the end of January and into Feb, and by booking in Jan, I would get the lower rate for the entire stay even if it went into Feb. Of course, if you are booking individual ressies for each day of your stay, then each day would stand on it's own and be applicable to season for that day.

For stays on DVC points, it will be based on the nightly points for that night. On cash stays through CRO they follow the same policy as regular WDW resorts. No policy change, it has always been this way.

When making a ressie on points the days are charged according to the season they fall in day by day. So the days in a high points season will use more points per day. Subsequently, days in the lower season will use less points.
I think when making cash ressies at WDW resorts the beginning of your ressie dictates the rate.

Yes it does change with the seasons, which has its benefits because that way we can afford to stay a night or two in high season before it converts to low. Good thing because it would suck if it worked the way CRO does, by the day you check in :)

Yep, and we have done 12/31 twice, and it really makes a dent in those points when you are in a 2 bedroom or GV!

It couldn't be done any other way beside day by day.
If it were, DVC could get into a situaution where more points were sold than are available at the resort. :smokin:

I agree with the responses about DVC. My understanding is CRO keeps the same rate for the first night of your stay even if it changes seasons. I guess this could be good or bad, bad in this example.
