hi everyone,

Im going to DLP on the 29th of this mth, till the 3rd of oct i cant wait, we just booked it 3 days ago, so got alot to sort out! :)

I have been 3 times before with family, my brother is like a human map, he gets us there, every other time we have been by car and ferry......but this time its just me and my friend going, shes going through a bad breakup so late last week she decided she wanted to go and take me with her woohoo...anyway lol...we are going by Eurostar, as i am completey scared of flying not fond of tunnels either but much rather than being in the sky lol.
Ive been reading reviews past couple of hours, 80% were positive reviews, we are going leisure class on the way there which seems to state alot more leg room than standard (doesnt matter to much to me im only 5foot but my friend is nearly 6 foot)

Have you all had good experiences with Eurostar?

One thing im worried about is on the way back we have to do one change at Lille, im worried that im not going to find the correct platform, and end up stranded! (my friend is totally relaying on me to get us around the whole hol, so i want to be abit clued up)

sorry for going on

thanks

We've always travelled there by Eurostar, it's the easiest way, as it gets you straight to the heart of the magic!

Having said that, we're trying the plane option next time, but we're back on the Eurostar for our Christmas trip.

With leisure class I am sure you'll have plenty of leg room.

We've changed at Lille on the return trip before, it was fine! You get around 45 minutes to change, I recall the Eurostar is very well signed, and it's likely most of those that get off are headed that way anyway so just follow them ;)

We even had time to pick up a couple of baguettes at the counter there, to eat on the train, it's right by where you queue up to check in :thumbsup2

I found Eurostar to be brilliant. Didn't have a problem with leg room, even at 6ft 2! :lmao:

We found Eurostar to be brilliant when we used it in 2004.

Unfortunatly we were on the direct train both ways and therefore I can't help with the question about changing although I'd expect it to be rather simple

I've only used the direct train but agree that Eurostar is definitely the best way to travel to DLRP, especially going in leisure select!! You'll be wanting to travel that way home too! ;)

The Eurostar is great, lots of room in the cattle class so leisure select will be brilliant for you.

It's very easy to change, just make a note of your train number on the ticket ( ie 9068 ) and then when you arrive in Lille look on the board for that number and departure time.

It will show up here which platform you need to go to and so it shouldn't be to difficult, there will just be a mad rush when it is announced.

But it will involve you going up and down escalators so be prepared to drag your bag up and down these.

i've always found the eurostar very good with lots of leg room.

I've only ever changed at lille once and i think that was the worst bit of the trip. i was on my own coz my friend had gone further south with her parents and when i got off the tgv they were saying on the tanoy that check in for the eurostar would be closing in a few minutes. fair to say i ran across lille station :rotfl: then my ticket wouldn't go through the machine and when i got on the train my seat was double booked :scared1: bit of a disaster really!

when i got on the train my seat was double booked :scared1: bit of a disaster really!

Never come across that before, though we did find people in our seats on the TGV we were booked on to get to Lille and pick up the Eurostar, one guy claimed the seats were double-booked, but didn't show us any ticket proving it :rolleyes1 We felt really uncomfortable throughout the entire journey.

thanks guys, you have made me feel better about the Eurostar now, and the changing at Lille, i was on the Eurostar site earlier, i found the number of the train i need to get from Lille, thats safely tucked away:)

Im really happy we got to go leisure class on the way, for some reason, the standard class was 162 outbound, but the leisure class was 146 for the both of us, strange but of course we took leisure, maybe due to time of year im not sure how the work out there prices :confused3

im soooo excited!!!:yay:
