How do people dress for Mass?

Living in OH and not sure at all about CA, how do people dress for mass. We plan on attending while there. I'm hoping nice shorts and shirts are okay, as they are here. Anyone?

I live here in So Cal. It's pretty informal, unfortunately. I sometimes wish people would dress a little nicer. If I go in the morning on Sunday, I usually dress nicely. If I'm going Saturday evening or to the teen Mass Sunday evening, I'm a little more informal--slacks and a polo shirt or sweater depending on the weather.

I agree, it is pretty casual, especially in the summer months. Although some parishes may encourage nicer attire, you should be fine in nice shorts. Personally I stay away from t-shirts at mass, but I see plenty of them every Sat/Sun.

Thank you! I never wear t-shirts to mass here, so wouldn't be any different. Just making sure that dress shorts and blouse/collared polo are okay, which sounds like they are. Thanks again..
